OMG! Spanish-speaking splicers in Bioshock? WTF?

Ok, I'm playing Bioshock and I'm in the Farmer's Market close to the big door that leads to Arcadia. Now, this is funny. I heard a splicer talking and I usually hack ALL of the first aid stations because it's funny watching the splicers run to get heal and get sprayed this green stuff, poison I'm sure, and they die. Well, I heard this splicer and I came back and shot it once so I could see it run to the station to heal, so I followed him as he screamed I'M BLEEDING! Then, the funniest thing in the world!!!!!!!!!! HE SPOKE SPANISH!!! I WAS IN SHOCK! I've NEVER heard them speak spanish or ANY other language for that matter. He said, " AYY DIOS MIO! AYUDAME!" (I speak spanish) translates to OH GOD, HELP ME! Anyone ever seen this before?

    eso es muy extrano.
    (that's very strange.)
Also, to translate what Andru_Rian just said, it means this: "I also speak Spanish. I am taking classes to my school. But I do not hear splicers we spoke in Spanish."

Lmao. Yo hablo español tambien. Yo soy Latina.
Pero si, eso fue muy extraño.
(I speak Spanish too. I'm Latina. But yes, that was very strange)
It's ok tho Andru_Rian. No one's perfect. It's always good to be bilingual. I'm trilingual tho.
So, no one's ever heard a splicer speak in Spanish? It was SO weird. O_o

Hahaha wtf. Señora McAdams would be very disappointed in me. But YES!!!!!!!!!!
I actually heard one say Dios mio. I was in the medical pavilion as a big daddy when I just saw a splicer coming in. I shot him and he said. I wonder if there's any other languages in rapture...

Actually, in spanish the word tomando can translate to taking and/or drinking That's the weird thing in Spanish, that certain words don't directly translate to what you think they do. There's at LEAST 2 or 3 meanings to certain words in Spanish. English does too, but we speak fluent English of course so we don't notice it as much. As for you Andru_Rian, you heard one in Medical Pavilion? Lol. I never GIVE them a chance to run and heal unless I'm in Olympus Heights which is where I noticed it a lot, since they're harder to kill, so maybe I oughta pay more attention and give them a chance to run and heal? lol.

Did you use some kind of online translator or something? Cuz that makes NO sense.

First of all, hello to everybody, this is my first post.

And as a spaniard myself i can absolutely confirm that some splicers (or at least one) speak spanish. Also if IRRC there are some audio diaries of a character with a spanish surname and accent, and even one of a french ranting about the wine or something

Ahh, yes the audio tapes. Forgot about them. Although the characters are of Spanish descent, they don't actually SPEAK spanish on the tapes. But this one Splicer in particular did. It was so funny!
But anyway, Nice to meet you! I'm half Spanish. It's pretty cool that your first post was on my thread. Coolness! xD
So, do you LIVE in Spain, or are you in the US?

Nice to meet you too. I live in Vigo, a city in Northwestern Spain, very close to Portugal. (And quite far from the US )
What i was thinking is that maybe some of the splicers you encounter are the owners of the diaries. (Besides the main enemies/bosses) That would be cool.

    @zoegrmon
Definitely it wasn't an ammo machine. I don't think the vending machines were "progammed" to scream "oh god oh god, i'm dying"

Very cool. I was born in California, but my father is from Spain my mother is actually half portuguese. Lmao, I'm all mixed. But I am fluent in Spanish and english. I know a lil Japanese but I'd like to learn my mother's language; Portuguese. Do you speak spanish?
But yes, you're very far from the US.
But back to the topic, maybe those splicers are the owners of those audio tapes and drop and lose them as their scavenging around.

What? Since when? Around here everytime the Coke machine is empty it starts screaming, "Jesus Christ! I'm out of fu*king soda! Someone help me!" I thought it was the same way everywhere...

    jajajaja.

I've never heard them speak Spanish, but I've heard Splicers sing "Jesus Loves Me" in what sounded like a Spanish accent...

Ay nó, YO apuesto que ustedes ni si quiera saben ni lo que USTEDES están diciendo. LOL. Oye tu Alec, yo no pienso que tu sabes Español. Yo hablo Español.
I'd like to see someone figure that out. (I'm fluent in Spanish BTW)
I head the splicer say "Ay Dios! Ayudame! (Oh God! Help me!)

I'm not fluent but I took 3 years, so I know a decent amount. You said something like "I bet(I had to use a online translator for "apostar") that you all neither want to know nor what you all are saying (?). LOL. I see you, Alec, I do not think that you know spanish." I know I screwed up on the end of the first sentence, but I don't really care, I am done with spanish class.

Back on topic, I have never heard anyone speak in spanish. I remember them saying some weird stuff, but that was a long time ago.

That same splicer (Waders) says about four various things in Spanish. Maybe more.

"Estupido!" (While yelling at a door)
    "Thief! Ladron! Kill him!"

And one or two others I didn't hear quite so well.

OH YEAH! I've heard them say "Ladron!" and "Estupido!" too! Lol. I couldn't think of the other things they'd say.
    ~Mari.

I've only heard "Estupido" too!! XDDD;; But why is it always from Waders? I could've sworn I heard some of the Toasty guys saying a few things too. :9

Now, as some other folk have announced, I'm mixed too, with Spanish and Portuguese blood Not the point, I don't know Spanish enough to be considered fluent, but I can recognize some words... But it sounded more like Toasty was mumbling some word. ..Or maybe Waders was near....

I've only heard the Waders say it. But I'm sure there's the possibility that there could be other splicers speaking Spanish or even another language. Lol.
(I'm Spanish, Portuguese, Mexican & Colombian. What a confuzzle huh? Lol. Spanish is my first language believe it or not. Lol.)

And here I thought Waders was Scottish/Irish/whatthehellever. Maybe due to smuggling, they had to learn a few other languages.
[I'm a mix of Spanish/Portuguese/English/French/Irish/Swedish/Mexican/god knows what else..]

It sucks trying to translate things into English doesn't it?It comes out like gibberish almost. I'm guessing gibberish will come out as perfect English then?
