Bioshock not working second time around.

Hello all. I am having some trouble with BioShock. I have player the game before about 4 months ago with some little problems that I fixed but was able to play it with all settings on high in DX10 very smoothly. Now I go to install it again today and play it for a bit and it worked, but then I patched it with the BioShock patch that I downloaded and now when I click "Play" a message comes up saying "Failed to create the GameExploere object" and then it says BioShock.exe has stopped working. I have uninstalled and tried without using the patch I downloaded, but same problem. Any help?

Also, the game has not asked for the CD Key Code on the inside of the manual booklet. Not sure if it did last time I played.

Oh, yeah for sure. Forgot to add them, my bad. I have a Toshiba X200 laptop with Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit, Intel Core 2 Duo @ 1.8 GHZ, 3GB DDR2 RAM, and an nVidia GeForce 8700M GT 512MB. The latest video drivers are installed and the game ran perfectly for the second time I tried it last week. Then after the Patch installed it won't run. :

You could try to create a shortcut directly to the Bioshock exe, it is (in a default installation) here:

    "C:\Program Files\2K Games\Bioshock\Builds\Release\" and called "Bioshock.exe" in that folder.

Getting a games explorer error is coming from Vista not Bioshock, usually thats a sign that somethings been corrupted in your Vista installation and there is no way short of reinstalling Vista to fix it. Maybe if you booted off the Vista DVD and chose the Repair option but I wouldn't count on that. The games explorer is a new feature in Vista, it is in the Start menu as an option called Games. I would recommened that you poke around with other games in that folder and see if any of them are misbehaving too. If some are then I would back up all my information, try the repair option and if that didn't work reinstall Vista. If you do reinstall Vista make sure you use the revoke tool for Bioshock first so you don't lose an activation.

I finally got it working. My Shaw Secure was blocking it in the Firewall, so its all good now! But now I have updated my laptops NVidia drivers with the newest drivers that make the game perfectly smooth in all places and have given a huge increase in performance for Crysis as well, but in Bioshock the colors are all messed up now. Its like there is no red added. Everything has got too much blue in it. So WTF is up with that crap. I finally found the best driver with a nice performance boost and it f***** up all my colors. DAMN COMPUTERS!

Are you using the drivers from: Laptop Video 2 Go? The M in that part number means its a mobile part so the drivers from LV2G work best for them. If you aren't using those drivers and you do try them out it is very important to read and follow the directions in the Quickstart Guide specifically about how to manually add the modified .infs to the installer or they will not work.

Hey, I use the same laptop, the most stable and best drivers I have found so far is the 163.44 (released when BioShock was released). Might want to try those drivers see how they work for you.

Thanks guys. I am using Laptopvideo2go drivers. I have the 174.20 drivers installed and after Bioshock gave me problems with the color, I restarted my laptop and its fine now. Just started working properly after that. I have some sound corruption in Crysis, but a lot of other drivers seemed to do that as well, and I would like to keep these ones as they have given me a nice increase in performance. No problems in BioShock anymore though. Smooth as pie!! Thanks

Actually it seem I spoke too soon. These drivers still give me messed up colors, just in BioShock though. The game still plays smoothly with out any other problems, its just that I must restart my computer now everytime I go to play it or else I get the game without any red added to it. Do you guys have any suggestions for me, besides trying different drivers? I would really ike to keep these drivers for their performance. Thanks!
