    New BioShock doesn't even load

    Hi all.

I just purchased a retail box of BioShock, installed it, activated it, and just went to run it for the first time. It shows the mini BIOSHOCK logo for about five seconds and then I get:

    [Window Title]
    Microsoft Windows

    [Main Instruction]
    Bioshock.exe has stopped working

    [Content]
Windows can check online for a solution to the problem.

I've tried to run the game as administrator, disable themes, compability mode, dx9, disabled Tablet PC, etc. (All the usual stuff I've read) to no avail.

What could be the issue and how can I fix it? Thanks!

    Specs:
Windows Vista Home Premium (Build #6000)
    2GB RAM
    Intel Core2 Duo T7500 2.2GHz
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT (latest drivers)

I fixed the issue... well got a work around.

I applied a no-cd crack to test it and the game loads fine. I think the issue is something with the DVD itself. I've read some people may suspect the copyright protection on the DVD as a problem and this may be what I'm having an issue with.

Should I report this to 2k?

Is it not obvious to you that they don't care?

did you get your latest graphics card drivers from: www.laptopvideo2go.com

    ????

As this is the one and only site to go for LAPTOP drivers. (not getting the ones off of nvidia's oficial site).

Because of the mere fact that you are trying to use a no-DVD crack, you will not receive any "official " help here. I wouldn't get too upset about not being able to patch. It really doesn't solve much of anything anyway. Just a widescreen fix, some new plasmids and the option to turn off Vita-Chambers. Oh, and I think it may "try" to turn off EAX automatically for unsupported soundcards.

I think my no-cd crack is version 1.1. And why wouldn't they want to know there's an issue with their DVDs?

I got them from Dell's website since the ones from that website do not work properly for me a lot of the time and nvidia official ones dont even install.
