Big Daddy "ELITE ROSIE" (The Red One)

Jesus Christ! These are the most difficult of all the Big Daddies in the game. I swear they never miss with their super accurate rivet gun and grenades. Anyhow does anyone have any good tactics on how to attack these commandos from the ocean hell*o deep within?.. On hard they take a truckload of ammo and skills that Chuck Norris, and Macgyver himself would have a hard time figuring out.

I just load up on Hypos and Health Eve?.
Load up my grenade launcher, If I have heat seaking grenades I'll use them first.
Stand a distance away from them then start firing.
I just keep moving sidways while firing so they have less chance of hitting me.
Very Important when you come across the BDs with the Drill arm.
Once my health goes down too much I just press F.
Once I run out of Heatseekers I hide behind something and change to the standard grenades.

Ends up being a routine which works everytime.

I use the electroshock plasmid to stun them so I have the time to relade my nade-launcher. Works every time.

Grenades can be tossed back with telekinesis and by the time you encounter elites you should have bloodlust already so go wrench inside the minimum range of the rivet gun. Rosie melee is patetic compared to bouncers.

I actually got one trapped on a staircase, i was on the floor below him, so i shot up 4 proximity mines around him, then shot a Heat Seeker right at him, killed him instantly because of the prox mines lol, it was the easiest BD battle i've ever had haha

Don't stay in their field of view any longer than you have to. :]

The easiest method is always a simple Bullseye plasmid when they pass a camera.

If you want a real fight, then some of the "safer" tactics are:
    - Incinerate then shoot RPGs while running away
    - Freeze or stun, then run away while setting up a gauntlet of trap bolts
    - Hypnotize another one, then set them on each other

That's pretty much my chosen method on my Brass Balls run. Fun to watch and not nearly as taxing.

Have something else do the work for you- Use Enrage or Security Bullseye. Even still, maybe a combination would wreak true havoc.

I use the electric flesh tonic combined with an upgraded (ammo conservation) chemical thrower. If I'm fully loaded, I can usually kill them without them taking so much as a step before the tank is depleted.

Armor-piercing tommy gun, crossbow, and the pistol to finish them off.On hard.Yeah,I burn through medkits. And run away a lot.But nothing beats finishing one with a pistol to the head.

Incidentally, does freezing work at all on them?Do any plasmids, really, besides hypnotize and security bullseye?

Winter blast works on them, but seems to be half duration and their frozen HP gauge isn't really much shorter than their real one so it's better for running away and setting up traps than actually shattering them. Likewise, Electro bolt stuns but seems to be half duration.

I think every plasmid works except Cyclone.

i allways remember that when you hold a shoulder button in the game freezes, which means you can take your time, stun, set fire, move away whislt dropping mines and then fire a heat seeker or two whilst its still on fire, use telekenesis to throw any corpses at it and so on, its all about timing really.

I wish there was a level that had rosies AND bouncers. It would be so cool to set them against each other. One tries to get some distance and throws a mine, the other closes in with a rush, and ka-BOOM!

One thing I like to do is load up a milk crate or a corpse with mines and throw it at him with TK. With enough mines you might kill him in one shot. One reason this is good is that I always run out of room in my wallet. Load that corpse up and find a vending machine that sells mines.

and I think sonic boom does nothing.

My favorite way to defeat a Daddy:

Use crossbow (with the less-breakage upgrade, mind you) and incendiary bolts on the head from reasonably far away. Have Telekinesis ready, and once the bolt hits the daddy in the face, suck it back toward you, then fire it, then bring it back, then fire it...

After about five times, the Daddy should be dead (on normal at least). It's the most bada** way to kill them, and it really works!!!

    That's cool. I hadn't even thought about TK+CB.

I use the same method that I use for all Big Daddies - if the opportunity presents itself.

I shoot 3-6 proximity grenades onto a fuel tank and then throw it at the Big Daddy using Telekinesis. It's completely devastating. If there aren't any fuel tanks handy, use another object like a corpse, wheelbarrow, or a sign. Whatever's available.

If it doesn't kill the BD in one hit (Elites especially) switch to RPGs and finish him off. Or use Incendiary Bolts. Whatever you have. And if you need to reload, blast him with Electrobolt to buy yourself some time.

    Good luck!

Electric Cross-bow bolts then Electric Gel in an upgraded Chemical Thrower if he's still alive. For the earlier levels Electrobuck in the shotty works very well for the earlier levels. In a pinch you can use armor piercing round from the Tommy gun then freeze before he rushes, if fighting a bouncer.
