    Different crash problem

    Hey folks,

I recently upgraded my system a bit to the following specs:

    Core2 Duo (1.86GHz)
    Gigabyte P35C-DS3R
    2GB (2x1GB) Mushkin DDR2-800
    XFX GeForce 8800GT 670MHz 512MB

I am having a problem with BioShock intermittently crashing. This happens within 2-30 minutes of game play, and can even happen from the main menu screen. I've never seen this type of crash occur before. The same exact problem happens with Rainbow Six: Vegas as well (and as some of you will know both games use Unreal technology). I am using the latest Nvidia drivers as well as the latest for my mobo chipset (and all other components). Overheating is not an issue.

I am able to play Crysis at 1920x1200 with maximum graphics settings and not a hiccup whatsoever. No other game that I have tried thus far aside from the two I mentioned exhibits this behavior. Sadly I do not have any other games based on the Unreal engine, but I am not sure what that would help prove in any case. Any suggestions as to what might be causing this?

you play crysis at 1920x1200 whit maximum graphics,humm... i don`t belive in that, i have 1 quad (4.3ghz) and 2 x 8800gtx in sli and i can`t get 100% smooth play, how in the heck can you whit single gt

your problem looks like high video ram frequency problems, try to lower mhz of the core and ram to bit less than factory defaults

Are you overlocking by any chance? Also, did you install the November 2007 DirectX update that came with Crysis? And what driver version are you using? A newer one is out in beta form for Vista which has some improvements for Crysis and other DirectX10 games.

Also, please consult my guide and leave me some feedback so that I can make a list of known issues and work to find a remedy.

This is actually the problem, I visited another forum and they were also having the problem and they mentioned overclocking so I downloaded the nvidia forceware from their website and set my clock speeds to 600/900(from 600/1000) and it fixed my problem.
