Get to the end of "Welcome to Rapture" and system just won't go any further without crashing. I figure if I can try to load a save game at the start of the Medical Pavilion I can kill two birds with one stone - see if it's the level transition itself or something in the loading of that level that creates the problem and if the former, actually get on with the game. I can't really be bothered installing a debugger to see why there's a GPF (c0000005) exception (this shouldn't really occur for something this simple).

It appears I'm not the only one with the error but the only other info I can find is in Thai (http://www.pantip.com/tech/games/top...C2448144.html), and my Thai isn't too hot (but title says something like "please help, I can't play bioshock").

For specific details, level completes, segues to the "loading" type images then dies a hanging death on any option combination (which takes a long time to work through incidentally) under DirectX 9 or 10. Yes, I know it's a laptop; it's fully patched, has latest video drivers (using INF from laptopvideo2go), etc....
