WTF... LocalMapSounds-Int/Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)
I'm trying to install the game and am getting this error at 75%.
I've done a Google Search and all. The disc has no scratches and the DVD ROM (which is a SATA if it matters) is top of the line and works. I've been playing Oblivion with no problems.
Running:
A64 X2 4000+ @ 3.0Ghz
EVGA GeForce 7900GS overclocked
OCZ PC2 6400 @ 800Mhz
200GB HDD
So what gives?
Also is there any possible way to "register" (all the validation crap is a major pain in the ass. It's a game, not even Windows has so much validation **** and it's 6X the cost
) the game on my laptop that I'm on now. The gaming rid isn't connected to the web.
Thanks to everyone who helps

I just checked the disc and it is damaged. It has what appears to be waves. When compared to my other discs it isn't smooth but has waves when looked under a light.
Just great. Can't even release a proper CD. Now I have to wait until I go back home to return it because there are no Best Buys here.

Unfortunately from time to time there are manufacturing defects with the disc's. This can happen to any games publisher. If you are unable to return the game to the store and still have the recipt you can exchange the game directly with 2K by contacting the technical support team.
