    No Sound After First Cutscene

    Hello,

I just bought the game for PC today, installed it, got passed the "bioshock.exe is not working" error. Started the game, and I get yet another problem...

During the cutscene when the character is in the plane and talking about how he is special, everything works fine, but as soon as the BioShock logo appears, all the sound stops working, I got up to the lighthouse, jumped around, etc... and no sound. Not sure what is wrong. Could someone please help?

Here are my system specs, if needed:

    Nvidia 8800GTX
    Intel Core2Quad Q6600 @ 2.4GHz
    4GB RAM
    Windows Vista 32bit
Built in sound card, from the motherboard. I'm also playing in 5.1 surround sound.

    Thank you,

    Alex.

If you are missing sound from gameplay try the following to fix it.

Right click on the game shortcut on the desktop and choose properties.
    Then choose the "Compatibility" tab.
Check the box labeled "Run this program in compatibility mode for".
from the drop down menu please choose "Windows XP SP2".
    Now apply the changes.
Right click on the shortcut for the game again and choose to run as admin.

If you do not have a shortcut on the desktop, navigate to the following and right click on the Bioshock.exe file.

    Local Drive C:/Program Files/2K Games/Bioshock/Builds/Release

    same problem no sound

    Dear D3lta,
I am facing the same problem as you. My system also has a built in sound 'Realtek High Definition Audio'. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium. May I ask how you managed to fix the problem? Thanks.

I have the same problem. Running the steam version of Bioshock with Home Vista. E6750 and 8800GT, also with the onboard Realtek HD audio. Running in compatibility mode didn't fix anything for me. I updated the Realtek drivers and the sound started working but now the game won't start in full screen and whenever I try to change resolution it crashes. I've updated my video drivers and vista is fully updated as well. It ran fine on my old XP machine.

Is there a patch for this? A simple google search shows that this was an issue back in August.
