Ati released a new: Catalyst Driver today! AND I have BLOOD now with it!!!!! Someone else who also is experiencing the no-blood issue on an Ati card please also confirm this!!!
(From the release notes):
For VISTA users only:
Bioshock: Pulling the lever in the chamber no longer results in the game failing. Further details can be found in topic number 737-30493
Bioshock, Lost Planet, and World In Conflict: Connecting certain dual link display devices to certain ATI Radeon™ 2x00 series of cards no longer results in limited display resolutions being available. Further details can be found in topic number 737-30090
From the screenshots in the No-Blood thread, I'm not getting all the blood but I *am* getting a lot more than I used to have! For example, at the start of Neptunes Bounty where the corpse is strung up on the wall with "Smuggler" written above it, I do not see blood splatters on the wall but I *do* see the blood running down the wall by his left leg that was not there before. If I shoot someone and they are near a wall the wall will be splattered with blood, before it was not. So it's an improvement but not a complete fix. Hopefully the upcoming patch will fix the rest!
And in the Medical Pavillion, where Dr. Steinman does his little speech and stabs the splicer on the table I also do see the blood running off the table onto the floor that was not there before!
This is my prob lol for the update, and I have already tried to request support from ati but it keeps timing out so I have to post it here.
Ok, so I want to update to the latest drivers and such for my card but whenever it starts installing I get 3 windows that pop up. The first is a window titled Notify with a blank space underneath, the second is titled Notify but has the text "data.size() !=3" in it. The third however is titled ATI Software, and says "Setup failed to run installation: (0x80040707)" and then it quits. Tell me what is going on?
And really this update would be the same as with my old card which I recently got rid of.
For the Ati drivers I always need to install them in Administrator mode, logging off and logging back in as the Administrator doesn't do it: I have to reboot then on the logon screen choose Administrator before any other user account or the drivers will not install.
After some searching, the best I can recommend is to redownload the drivers - they may have been corrupted somehow. Other than that you'd probably have to email Ati, their site does not contain any information for that error code (0x80040707).
Are you running Vista or XP? 32bit or 64?
You can also try running the installer in compatibility mode as suggested by this: post. Do try this, and if it works or not please post back!
XP 32
Radeon HD 2600 XT (was X800)
I tried compatibility mode and the same thing happened as did when I tried in Admin mode.
How about trying to boot into safe mode (press F8 repeatedly while windows is booting), uninstalling your video drivers (Catalyst Control Center and Driver), and then running: Driver Cleaner. Then try to install the new drivers? I suggest it because you did have a previous card.... Researching that error code, some websites suggest that it is caused by registry errors: the drivers should install normally with minimal difficulties. If this is the case it may be best to reinstall Windows itself but I would exhaust all other options first! If you do reinstall windows, don't forget to use the revoke tool for Bioshock. Heres a: Google link for the error to give you some reading material.
With the new 7.11 drivers I also now have blood on people (the character models) when I shoot them. Before I would see the hit splatter but no blood on the people or surrounding geometry.
