Exclamation Bioshock Crash on very first load on both WinXP and Vista

    Specs:

    P4 3,4 GHz HT Prescott
    Asus P5GD1
1024 MB DDR-400 Dual Channel RAM
XFX NVidia GeForce 7950GT 512 MB

    Software:

    BioShock Retail

On WinXP 163.71 Forceware, Dx9 August Redist installed, all VC++ 2005 SP's etc etc.

on WinVista 163.69 Forceware, Dx9 August Redist installed, all VC+ 2005 SP's etc.

    Situation:

I installed the game, activated and all that and ran it. Through all the videos, set up my settings, resolution etc and then started a new game, past the difficulty setting screen, it finally loads ... but crashes shortly after, while still loading.

I have not seen a single graphical pixel rendered by BioShock in my life on my computer.
It always crashes at the same point while loading, in WinXP and WinVista, with all kinds of settings, shaders on, off, EAX on and off etc...

I switched off the wacom tablet services in Vista, but didn't work.

I tried the dx9 switch, didn't work as well.

So, am I going to have to look at my 50 Euros as wasted money or is there something I could try?

great, waste 5-10 minutes to write up a good description of your problem and then get this kind of help.

Crashed with what type of error? BSOD? Lockup? Any info on the type of crash might help a little.

The normal error of WinXP: Bioshock has encountered an error an must stop or something along those lines. Shoirtly after hitting the "Load Game" button or loading any level what-so-ever.

re-installed a dozen times by the way.

    Same Problem!

I have the exact same problem, but my loading is extremly slow, but the CPU usage is almost nothing, and after the game crashes it goes back to windows with an error message of Bioshock has stopped working... somthing somthing somthing... with nothing further explaining it just saying to end the process, no error code, no support, nothing!

    Bioshock.exe has stopped working

Here is exactly what windows says - "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

valk i think you're running into a few different problems all at once.

I crash at level changes on my 7950gt about ~ 8/9 times...

Though now Bioshock refuses to get past the first load change (but I have finished the game without changing anything through hard restarting 9 times for each level change).

Now you're probably also running into Vista problems... UAC, Tablet, Admin, Vista just generally being annoying. And also potentially sound card driver problems.

The only problems is you can't figure out if you fixed any of those, because they all tend to crash the same with no info telling you which crash was which.

Thumbs down Bioshock Wont Load Period

    I'm running a system near your spec's
only bioshock crashes right after playing the intro video's
i havn't even seen the main menu yet.

i hope down the road they release an update to make this compatable.

if only i could figure out how to get into developer mode on the game
do you know anything about the unreal engine??

i plan to write e-mails to the company, demand technical support and resolution.

the minimum specs required are advertized on the box.
if your system meets those requirements, and the game still won't play you just got skrewed out of your money and a product thats worthless.
retailers won't accept returns on open games.

maybe if you threten law suit on the company it will help them take the issue of releasing a game that hasn't been tested for compatabilty,
they have 2 options, get you playing, or get your money back.

    Still the same problem???

Hi there....I considered playing the game again after reading the book by John Shirley...but actually expiriencing the same problem as the user who started this thread!

I already tried all the solutions i found on the web including updating all drivers, trying fixes with alternative openAL drivers.

    My system specs are:

    CPU: Phenom X4 2.5 Ghz
    RAM: 8GB
    GPU: Radeon 4850HD
OS: Windows Vista 64bit SP2(automatic updated, so ALWAYS up-to-date)
Audio: Onboard Via Hd Audio 7.1

PS: ALL other games working without ANY problems...even Bioshock2(as far as the game can be called "stable" )

PPS: Hope you guys&gals will provide a less buggy game with Bioshock Infinity AND sooner than later return to Rapture!!!

    Bioshock 2 crashes

The only thing the makers of this game understand is a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. I would be more than happy to be a part of that. I have experience in filling suits. If interested let me know. I have been trying to play the game for over a year. Bought a new graphics card ,increased my ram , undated every file they told me to . And it still crashes at stat up.
