All speculation based upon a few flippant comments. The truth is out there. And Jake's multiplayer corpse has it. And the Bubonic Plague.
The demo lists a base facility called The Gollop Chamber, the game files appear to refer to it also as 'Deus Ex'. I've noticed also another appearance of the name Gallop somewhere on the files.
You get achievement for building Gollop Chamber.(its named "Standing on shoulders of giants" or something like that.*shrugs*)

this is excellent news for me! The only thing i disliked was the hero soldiers. Now it's clear that it's kind of a cheat/easter egg.

The way I read that info was that they are found near the center of the ship, as they were approaching a ship they had shot down, and that type of alien was there. Not that they are found on a alien base
