Bugs?

I'm starting a thread to notify 2K of any bugs in the game- something that might be rectified in the future.
I don't know the name of the mission, but it involves taking out some of Paulie's muscle- including a guy in a yellow boilersuit watching Jackie's Aunt on Raspberry Street (?).
I've killed him and then gone to Grinders to kill the other guys, as directed, but returning to Raspberry Street to whack the lead guy has resulted in nothing... There's no-one around!
I've checked around and I've been told that an SUV should be around there, with a few guys playing loud music, but it just ain't happenin' in my game.
Still, I've no complaints other than this about the game so far.

The only bug I witnessed was during the part when the cops are fighting you (after the swat team smash through the restaurant ). It froze twice on me, but stopped. Not sure if anyone else experienced this.

It would be nice for some hit detection in multiplayer. I have no earthly clue when I'm dealing damage till the guy actually falls down dead.

I beat the game on hard and didn't get either of the two achievements (Anti-Hero or Legendary Dark).

Hi all,
I don't know what it is, but everytime I try to access the Lower East Point area, the game freezes on me during the loading sequence. I am trying to reach this area for the (Spoiler?) mission to reach Pier 19 and get aboard the ship to kill the captain. I have tried to do this many times, but the game just ends up freezing only on at this point in the game. Any advice would be appreciated. (Great game by the way, just hope that I can finish it to see it all). Thank you.

Wow, this game is indeed the awesome. I haven't been playing that much but I seem to notice that the framerate is a bit touchy here and there, anyone else had this?

Okay, another thing that needs to be fixed...

This is a spoiler, so look away if you've still not completed the game yet...




On the ship, I've noticed that when I've opened a door to go outside, the outside just isn't there! Coming from inside the bowels of the ship, if I open the door, the platform isn't there- it's just the background of the ship.
When you close and reopen the door, that tends to fix it. So it's not a gamebreaker in any case.

Sorry to sound like I'm complaining a lot! I really love this game, so that's why I'm bringing these issues to 2K's attention.

Actually, no, I haven't had a single framerate issue, though several people have.

It's not game breaking by any means, but it's noticeable and weird that it occurs in the places that it occurs (i.e subway, sometimes with hardly anyone standing around.) Still, I've heard this before that some people get it and some don't; seems like I always get the framerate problems though (even on Gears).

By the way, a sort of update here:

I beat the first chapter on Medium and I got the Anti-Hero Achievement. Strange. I'll try to beat it on Hard, maybe I'll get Legendary Dark. If not I'll play the whole game over again, it's that good anyway.

this game is good but the glitches are abundant
1. the gunner will randomly shoot walls until he dies
2. sometimes when i have my pistols out and on is out of ammo the one with ammo disappears but i can still shoot it.
3. the AI will sense u from a mile away even around corners without darkling or the darkness manifested.
4. sometimes the gangsters will kill u in a thousand shots while 2 seconds later one will blind fire twice and you'll die?
5. i dont know if its on purpose but in the hills while looking for the man on the cross lightning will strike and your back where you started and even though you go to where the man on the cross is he isnt there until you visit there 4 the fu*king 50th time.

Otherwise so far so good.

good story line and great lighting.

The only bug I've come across is with Jimmy the grape. His room 216 mission. The game wont let me give him the list.

I found this one glitch odd. When I go up close to do an execution and try to turn quickly, my screen will stutter and flick back to the original way I was aiming. I don't know if I am trying to move faster than the animation or what. But, it always seemed like the movement was done when I try to move.

It looks like my game skips parts. I never saw the orphanage burn down. Is that in a cutscene I missed? And when I went to the burned orphanage Jenny was kidnapped without mentioning or a cutscene or whatever .

The game is amazing so I will play it again if my savegame is glitched but it's just weird. Someone else has it?

I'm replying to my own post here, but oh well...

On my second play-through, I decided to do the Montarello side-missions one after the other- which is different from how I played it before, since I visited Aunt Sarah after the first hit.
Once I did this, the SUV was exactly where it should be- which is cool, since I used it to kill the people around it!
I think the bug lies in the the way you choose to approach the game.

The problem lies in the accepting of the second part of the Harmonica side-quest. If you accept that and then try to go to the Lower East side, it'll freeze during the same point of the loading dialog every time.

The only way to continue on is to load a chapter checkpoint from BEFORE you accepted that side quest. Some are saying they've not had any problem, but many others (including myself) can verify this as an issue.

I found a bug where I killed a guy and he still kept shooting me while he was dead on the ground lol, I shot him again and it stoped

Yes. This part of the game at Chapter 5 where after talking to Vinnie I go to Lower East Side and it results in freezing of the game and my console as I leave Canal Station and enter Lower East Side.
Needless to say I'm extremely pissed off at the Developer's concerning this issue.
It has been brought up here is this Forum and the ones over at XBOX.com.
A person at XBOX.com Forums was able to determine it is indeed a software glitch related to the 2nd Harmonica Side Mission (the one where you have to get it back).
He was able to reload and restart Chapter 5 before he done that side mission.
This however, doesn't help me as I completed this side mission in Chapter 3!!!
I'm sooo effin' pissed right now that I have to redo the 2nd half of this game!!!
I was thoroughly enjoying myself up to this point. Now, I'm not even sure I'll bother finishing it.

I have some bugs and complaints, please read...

1. The quest where you find the snitch list or whatever, you can't give the list back to jimmy

2. The coins on the subway track minigame sometimes gets permanently unaccessible as the lady who throws the coins stops talking to you.

3. I can understand why reloading the pistols drops the entire gun and clip you were using, but why does the same rules apply to the shotgun? I shoot one shell from the shotgun and reload and it wastes a whole clip, i mean i thought with a shotgun you would reload it shell by shell without ejecting all the other shells so it doesn't make sense

4. The multiplayer needs more than one death animation and the lag is unbearable most the time...after playing it for 5 minutes i was like, wtf is this crap?!? At least give us some ragdoll physics or more death animations, cause as of now the multiplayer is a joke.

5. I hope you make downloadable content for the single player, like maybe new sections of the city to explore and more side quests. It would also be nice to have a cheat code for all darkness powers from the beginning (even though it wouldnt make sense, it would be fun)

lol i changed 2 times the game with new copies and i always got freeze on chapter 5..... then i restarted chapter 3 and ignored 2°armonica mission.... all ok i beat the game....
Point is that i found another bug that let u not finish the game.....
If u kill the first man on the list of vinnie outside aunt sarah house just before going in to accept the mission on the boat ; camera will go in first person view and butcher and aunt sarah become muted.... so u can't go on the next mission.....
I solved this problem just playing the game only on main story until the mission after the boat...then i played all the sub quests and i got no problems till the end.....
i tested more times these things just to be sure that it was not just a case....
i have more than 10 games and this is the first that cause me freezing or similar problems........so IT CAN'T BE POSSIBLE that is the 360 !!!

I too am encountering serious save-game showstoppers and I can't even describe how disappointed I am that this otherwise awesome game is now essentially broken for me. I love the storyline, the immersion factor (besides the crashes) and the graphics - but this sucks.

The last checkpoint I passed was after killing all of the guys in the water room in chapter 2 and getting my light killer darkling. Now, every time I try to load that checkpoint, the loading IGC screen freezes at the same spot every time and I can't progress.

I have done the bracelet, coins and first harmonica side quests, called a ton of numbers and found most of the unlockables and darkling outfits to this point.

I called 2K customer support and tried their suggestions of clearing the xbox cache by holding down A on start up and replaying from the beginning of chapter 2 (which sucked) to no avail. I also have no such problems with any other games and not only have an Intercooler installed on my xbox, but have taken all the normal precautions regarding heat. The disk has no scratches, marks or lint.

Look, I realize that these next gen titles are getting harder and harder to make and test. But to not account for use cases which take into account all data that makes up a game save means the difference between an excellent game and a game that's pretty but has serious underlying core engineering issues. Starbreeze, you guys may or may not be on "vacation", but if you have any contingency testers and developers still on board, please have them crawl back through the game with some memory and metrics debugging active and with 100% completion in mind and FIX THIS FREAKING GAME SO I CAN PLAY ALL THE WAY THROUGH IT!!

I don't reccomend the intercooler. I've heard cases where those units have melted the xboxes they were "cooling".

I haven't seen any problems with the Intercoolers, but I'll keep that in mind. I do remember hearing about people who didn't turn on the fans for it having problems which makes sense.

An update to my situation above:

I started Chapter 2 over (again for the 2nd time) and I think I know what the problem was. The first 2 times I got the light killer darkling, he would just stand in front of the valve whel and not do anything. It might be because the first 2 times, I shot out the lights before he could zap them. So after I passed that checkpoint and turned off my xbox, he hadn't done what he was supposed to do. This 3rd time, I saw him shoot sparks, zap out the lights and spark the valve. I didn't want to quit there, so I progressed past the cannon to Chapter 3 and now my game save seems to be uncorrupted again.

Although I'm happy that I'm back on track, I'm really nervous to do any side quests or quit progress at certain times. And fear of turning off your game might be a good strategy fr the developer, it's really not an option for someone like me who really only gets an hour or two a night to play.

I'm having the same problem as DWF and reddarkdragon. I too have beat the game on hard and have not recieved Legendary Dark.

Also I'm not sure if this is a glitch aswell but, One of Vinnie's hit list people included a guy who sells drugs to kids in China Town between Plum and Orchid. I'm certain I've searched every part of China Town and have yet to find him.

So what exactly is going on with starbreeze? Are they off vacation yet cause your paying customers have lots of game ending glitches that need addressing.

That and the unacceptable multiplayer lag and crappy non existent physics

So check this, I decided to restart and play on normal first, With some crazy idea that maybe you had to beat normal first to play hard. Well I play the first chapter on normal/medium and it gives me the Anti Hero achievement. Then I go further, attempting to finish Vinney's hit list, The guy was in Chinatown where he was suppose to be. Then I get to the last guy of Vinney's hit list (He is in Guns Hill or whatever) Cant find him.

There is a bug with that last vinnie mission though, sometimes vinnie will keep saying the mission objective over and over, then when you try to go find the guy in the window the window isn't open, not until you come back to vinnie and talk to him again, then he gives you the objective yet again and usually at this point the glitch fixes itself, pretty annoying

If your game of The Darkness is freezing on the cutscene right as you enter the Lower East Side to learn about the "Mother of God" there is nothing wrong with your 360.

What you need to do is load a checkpoint prior that mission and not do the second part of the Harmonica side mission. Where the guy is laying on his side and says the guy took his harmonica. Do NOT do this side mission and you will be able to go the Lower East Side to visit Auth Sara and the Butcher and learn about the "Mother of God" without any freezing.

last night i was playing it and i got to the part were you have to burn the money and one of the guys in the room wouldnt die but wouldnt shoot me either he just ran around and i couldnt burn the money because it said there was enemy in the area i managed to track him down to find that his face was really weird like he was a dead body and he had a really creepy smile on his face that gave me nightmares

I'd have to basically go back to the beginning of Mission 3 (I'm at the Mother of God mission) which I don't want to do. It's up to 2k/Starbreeze to fix this.
