    LOL!!!!!

But seriously, Crysis is shaping up to have good graphics. I don't think half the population of gamers care about the game as much as they do the graphics. To me, meh. Looks good, I'll check it out...

Couldn't agree more. The only reason I checked out Halo 3 was just for tradition, not so much the game itself.

  7. Crysis does look good though, it's very prettzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

OH that was a good one. So I guess only 360 topics are allowed to be discussed? LOL...got it.

PC fanboy? You 360 kiddies are quite hysterical.

Yeah the MP Beta is hilarious at the moment.

I know i'm going to need a new computer for crysis (my current one is an average 2 yr old P4)

But in the beta... yellow textures everywhere... water looks nice though... hilarious bugs... though it is a beta (now don't bring up tf2 beta that's not really a beta, just so MS can't complain to valve that they released it early on pc)

I have no problem with consoles, just have a problem with people that are more in favor of consoles to take cheap shots at the PC users.

Hence I started the thread and it basically was about Crysis and you are giving me grief because I am a PC gamer and that I do not like consoles.

I also do not like the little kiddies who had the game of Bioshock early and was spoiling it for people which added to my frustration with consoles. Actually it is not so much consoles, it is with some of the clowns who have them.

Why you decided to insult me is still confusing. Testicles? Little 12 year olds have fun saying that kind of nonsense.

The thread was basically and informational bulletin to those anticipating Crysis as I am...

Yeah and there is another reason why I cannot stand consoles. The reason HL2 E2, Portal and TF2 were held up was due to getting them ready for consoles. Just nonsense.

Gates is not happy with all the money he has for some reason and trying to come up with something to make up for the Vista fiasco.

Any evidence of that, by the way?

I am going to badger you for not liking consoles if you insult those who own and like them.

LOL, if you took me saying that Crysis will put all this Halo 3 nonsense personally you obviously have issues. I no way was that a cheap shot at you, unless you are Halo 3.

Saying it would give me testicles is a cheap shot....you and I both know that.

I said it was better as that is my opinion. Like the Halo 3 fanboys who claim that Halo 3 is the greatest. You do understand the concept of opinion right?

Again, if you took me saying that Crysis will end all of this Halo 3 nonsense personally so be it..

I have been pretty much following the steam user forums for quite some time and, (I would search for the thread but do not have the energy) where it was said that the releases are being delayed due to the PS3 and making sure the multiplayer settings for portal were configured correctly for the xbox.

I could care less if you badger me about no liking consoles....if that makes you happy so be it. I was basically informing those who were interested the date fo the crysis demo..

My computer probably couldn't even run the installer. (I'm sorry, baby, but it's true.)

And PC elitists are the absolute worst. I really don't like elitists of any kind, but the PC ones are the only ones willing to crow about their bigotry and willful naivety openly.

Let me let you in on a little secret - we are posting on this forum, so we have PCs. We have done the PC gaming thing for many, many years. Many of us still do. We "get it". But we have a perspective which you do not: We have tried consoles. We liked em. And for good reason. Reasons which you would easily dismiss because you cannot allow yourself to share and enjoy the same experience.

There is a joy in the console world that PC bigots just don't understand because they refuse to -- it is a moral imperative that they reject consoles outright and anyone who plays them and everything to do with them. That way they can continue to profess their superiority and their hatred of change -- and I hate to be the one to tell ya, but the face of gaming is changing. Until the future is upon us when their TV becomes an "entertainment center" which is basically a PC/game console/TV/stereo/web browser, and they are forced to try this new medium which millions have already discovered and grown to love; then they can continue to fuel their own stereotypes and never have to face change in light of factual evidence.

What a wonderfully simple and sheltered life that must be.

True enough, but it ain't changing for the better, for the most part.

A goodly part of PC snobism can be explained by the negative influence of console market on the gaming industry as a whole. While one may agree or disagree that "better" PC games are aimed at more intelligent players, one simply must agree that console game design as a whole is driven by "simplify, simplify".

If you don't see that, you're the one leading a sheltered life.

Console market, in its vast majority, is populated by consumers who are in their early teens, value action over discovery, flash over substance, and are riddled with ADHD to boot. An average console player's motto is "STFU AND PLAY U RETARD NOOB LOL" and all those "fluff" additions (like audio diaries), extra choices, consequences are getting in the way of blowing something up real good and seeing bewbz.

(Now, note that I said "average"... but for every one of you who ain't average there's ten people who have, say, beaten BIO without listening to a single audio diary and still wonder what this ADAM thing is. OMG WUTZ A SPLICER LOL!).

I'm a proud PC snob, but only because I don't want every game on the market ten years from now be the Nth sequel to "Naked Chicks With Boobs And Guns Blowing ☺☺☺☺ Up Real Good (Now With More Special Effects And Online Multiplayer Action)".

    Know what I mean?

You most definitely make some valid points, i remember watching some interviews for Oblivion and they were talking about changing things to appeal to a broader audience. I'm not gonna sit here and say consoles arent changing PC gaming in a negetive way. I just despise arrogance and i see that from a lot of hardcore PC gamers. They act like pricks for no reason and have a major superiority complex. If they want to direct their vitriol somewhere, email the devs, ask them to stop making games less complex.
Dont act like dicks to gamers who cant afford a high end PC or dont know how to build and tune one of their own.

And also, console gamers can be ass hats for sure, im not denying that.

Pretty well said, Olgerth. It's a matter of fact that the console generation is one of lack of substance and blatant product placement.

I've been a PC snob for as long as I've had a PC. I had a Sega Genesis before I ever got a computer and I was a big console nut back when I wanted nothing more but to blaze through a few levels and beat Dr. Robotnik for the Nth time. I was probably about 8 or 9 years old then. Simple game design for simple minds. This still rings true today, imo.

I'm not here to sell my story to anyone, but if you're having a hard time acknowledging the fact that the very concept of a console is simplicity then wake the F up, nubsauce and play some CounterStrike with me (steam name is iStoner) and ditch those thumb-controlled input devices once and for all.

Please no one call me a pc elitist - I own around 50 PS2 and xbox console games and clocked over 50% of the huge ps1 library of game back in the day. I'm a true gamer, i love games on any platform. Sure I have over 100 pc games... buts thats just because i prefer the gameplay of those games. so anyways on to my point -

It's a long held fact that consoles have had simple or straight forward games - more flash than substance. e.g, Biowares console titles to date compared to their pc titles. But it DOES look like its improving somewhat - mass effect. hopefully this will be a growing trend that doesnt just level off at this, still simplified, stage.

Sure, bioshock was designed with consoles in mind - and yeah, its simple compared to SS2 for the pc... But its still come a long way from traditional console shooters (i.e, halo, which has gameplay that was old in its generation many years ago).

I think some dev's and publishers have started to wake up and realise that kids, the target market, can deal with complexity - they dont need everything spoon fed to them. As a gamer kid I grew up loving complex and non-complex titles alike. Even the first 2 x-com games were deeper and more involved than modern console games and i loved them at age 12. All my gamer friends were the same - not one pined for less complexity, it was the more involved gameplay that was so addictive. Sure there was the odd low attention spanned kid that would have prefered to have immediate satisfying results, like blowing crap up, but that doesn mean ALL titles should cater to them. They had "crusader - no remorse", and "streets of rage"...they were happy enough.

Maybe there will be some good news in years to come... Either that or they will just simplify PC games as well and make it the standard At least there will still be the option of being a retro-gamer.

Oh, and crysis demo - Cant wait for it! Was sooo disapointed when it was delayed a FULL MONTH.

And yeah, for me its mostly about graphics at this point - Tho I am looking forward to "maximum strength", leaping about rooftops and picking up guys by the throat... hopefully to be used as human sheilds before tossing them to the sharks. The multiplayer looks tight as well.

Also being able to approach a battle the way we have seen in vids looks great, as it was in farcry, and am really looking forward to it.

But right now i just want to see how well my system will deal with it at average/high details - really crysis and UT3 were the reason for my upgrade so im dying to see if i made some good choices. I'm a sukka for eye candy - you should see my gf! lol

First off I am not a PC bigot. That should clue you in.

I do not reject consoles outright as I have stated before, they were just a little much and I gave up on them. I give anyone props that can handle using that joystick and remembering all the combinations and so forth. I find it pretty cool.

Now, when you get the pompus morons, which we have PC ones as well, who feel that PC's are a thing of the past, we are not relevant, blah, blah, blah, is the ones I take exception too.

I thought it was crappy to only come out with Halo 3 for xbox only since I got a kick out of part 1, and then part 2 came out for Vista only, which sucked.

I could share in the enjoyment if I could figure them out, LOL. My brother is an avid 360 user. So if I could use the controller, I would.

It is not that the games are too simple or complex, it is the controller.

I just do not like the xbox guys who are the same as PC guys, pricks.

I have several soldiers that are just going nuts over it and I had one bring his in and show me the ending since I wanted to know as well.

As far as a sheltered life is concerned, no offense, but I have probably done more in six years of my life than most will do in all of theirs. As an 18 year military man, you seem to do alot. Just an FYI.

As far as mulitiplayer, I like single player. Too many young ones and not enough ways to keep cheaters out.

Yeah I upgraded mine (with my deployment reimbursement check) just to be ready for Crysis. Of course it is ready for just about anything now.

Far Cry 2 looks awesome as well...so I am glad that the PC FPS'ers are on their way back, this past summer was dead for FPS PC games...

The Orange Box looks really nice.

Medal of Honor Airborne showed that the WW2 series is dead, that game was a complete disappointment.

yah, i know what you mean - there was stalker, but that was a let down for me as it was NOTHING like they had cracked it up to be over the years of development.

At least the dead year is picking up - freaking bioshock, crysis AND UT3?!? O man im practicaly wetting my pants over here. Not to mention Hellgate:london and the suprise possible hit, jericho.

My wallet is not going to be very happy.

OH God, do not get me started on that crap STALKER. One of the biggest wastes of $40 I have ever spent. It was a nice thought and they had good intentions but the game was just lousy. Full of bugs and after about 4 or 5 patches it is still not right and to top it off, they are working on another game? Are you kidding me?

stalker is nothing more than a coaster, even with the mods.
