    Drown the fools!?

I wonder if it is possible to kill an enemy by drowning him/her in certain areas

I strongly doubt it. Where would you drown them? We haven't even seen any places where there is any standing water save for a few puddles.

I would assume that at some point in a massive underwater city, you'd be able to drown someone. But we'll have to wait and see I suppose.

it would be great, but you'd have to hold their faces under for three minutes before they fall unconscious. Unless there is a ten foot pool and they can't swim, it would be kind of a waste of time

A nice wrench to the head might knock them unconcious

that would deffinatley provide a nice touch, just as long as it works like Halo's assasination thing (but more acurate. the reason I specify Halo isn't because it's a good game, but a tried and true method.)

But to the back of the head would be great for a special use for the wrench (since I'm doubting that you'll be able to melee like other games such as the previously mentioned) rather than just pretending to be hurting something or fixing leaky pipes. I don't really mean the first bit of that last sentance, but only when the enemy is also holding a close range cudjel weapon would it really be of use. We all remember what happened last time! *cough* trailer *cough*

I'd be happy if all the wrench did was knock someone out.

yeah me to, but it might make it too strong if you could hit someone on their ankle and give them a ticket to dream land

It was said that there will be places you can flood or what will be flooded by something/one. So, yes, I think it could be in the game.

This question has been speculated off-hand before. One of the devs stated that no amount of water in Bioshock is swimmable, so the chance of drowning a splicer decreases on that fact.

Still, I would like to see a melee finishing attack, in the spirit of Condemned, where you hold the splicers head under a pool of water till they go limp. Not only would it relieve anger in a virtual setting, but it also gives Jack Thompson more ammunition for the game

Atlas: Good God man, you've stepped right into an ambush! get out of there!
Tenenbaum: Holly Hell! Theres hundreds of those God forsaken splicers!
Atlas: I know! You can individualy shove their heads underwater for about three minutes each until they're all dead! Hopefully they'll wait patiently!

It might be cool for a one on one type senario, but you guys remember the three ways to clear a room video? That's where the usability ends

I saw a picture somewhere that showed a computer screen or something that shows tubes that you could arrage in a specific pattern or dirrection. Some tubes had water in them, and others did not. It also looked like you could control flooding of certain rooms when set a certain way. My thought is that if there are a bunch of baddies in a specific room, you could arrange the pipes to flood that room to drown them, then remove the water and return to the room

It would also be cool if you could drag em' around while they were out.

Those screens were showing the hacking component of BioShock. When you hack turrets that screen appears, and to succeed in gaining control of the turret you need to complete that minigame.

A first-person take on Quick Time Events?

I have seen the hacking screens for the turrets, but these had actual pipes and tubes that you could control the water flow with. Anyhoo, just looks interesting

Come again I meant that if you can knock down a splicer during melee comabt with the wrench, they could possibly enter a "finish him" type state where you can then apply choking, or if the case is that water is nearby, drowning. My guess is it would be mainly a fixed animation sequence, maybe allowing the player to throttle them left - right or apply more musclepower.

Yeah, that was kind of my idea except I imagined it as you shooting a window, the glass starts shattering, jets of water spring to life from the surface of the glass like tiny geysers, this distracts the MoB's chasing you. As the now distracted baddies stand ogling at the ever increasing streams of water blasting through the glass you jump through a water tight door, closing and dogging the hatch behind you. You peer through the portal in the door just in time to see the window lose its battle with the sea.

As you smile to yourself at your clever actions your focus in the portal shifts just in time to see the reflection of a red-eyed big daddy right behind you...

This is along the lines of the linear playing Ken has detailed that they explicitly tried to avoid. By doing the above as you suggest you effectively make that area inaccessible, this goes against the free roaming and back-tracking aspects that have been detailed thus far.

Having said that, I had the same thought myself when I first saw Rapture but in reality, in an already decaying structure like Rapture is in it's current state, large changes in pressure would in all likelihood compromise the stability of an entire building and not just an isolated section.

It should be possible to drown them. You fighting off their allies, telekenesis their face and hold it underwater. That'd be sweet.

Do we really need drowning? We can already beat, shoot, burn, electrocute, freeze, explode, fling, trap, and sting the fools to death.

I'd much rather hold out for the plasmid that makes our enemies fall into a coma from hypoglycemia.
