    Oh, So That's What Happens...

Never really found myself in this situation. I played random, got Rome in FFA vs. Scripturez TFC or something (as America... fun). Anyway he doesn't play a very good America game and we end up neck in neck in tech all the way until the end. He launches his shuttle, I launch mine and am going to arrive the turn before (sweet stuff considering he had like every wonder, more cities, more firepower, more money, and more tech). Then on the turn I am supposed to win it says he gets the economic victory. It was the only clever move he made all game, but I guess I learned the hard way that economic victory > tech victory.

Lol, he got you... I've played the dude plenty of times. He is a good Horse rusher with them but other than that he can be much garbage later. I look for clever and intelligent moves from players when it goes a bit later into the game but he proves time and time again that even with Americans most players can be of no threat if you survive the beginning of war.

Yea, its like a trick question sort of scenario. Buildings are built at the end of the current turn(wonders included) whereas the tec victory happens at the beginning of the turn. Example. When you send your shuttle off it tells you that you are expected to get a tec victory 1900AD. If someone finishes the World Bank at the end of the previous turn the wonder is built and the game ends because the tec victory happens at the beginning of 1900AD not at the end of the previous turn.

Was he host? If so, that's probably why he got the win. If not, then i'll have to remember that economic really is > than tech. You say it was ffa so perhaps original host quit and your USA oppponent was new host?

That is very useful information. So domination > culture > economic > technology.
