    Resolutions in the United Nations

I really miss how you could vote for resolutions in the UN in Civ 4. I understand it is completely for a diplomatic victory but it would be really cool to bring back that mechanic which would be awesome in single player AND mp.

If I remember correctly, only one nation (head of the UN) was eligible to propose resolutions. Two civilizations would be eligible candidates for head of the UN: the civ that built the UN wonder and I think the civ that had the highest population or something.

Voting against nuclear weapons, forcing open borders, forcing current wars to stop (rejection by the aggressor leading to huge happiness penalties) and things along those lines were friggin awesome!

A diplomatic victory could still be possible: the head of the UN would have to propose a diplomatic victory vote as a resolution. Would be more interesting than a D.V vote automatically triggering within 10 turns of the UN being built.

Would make the end game a lot lot more interesting particularly with espionage back in the game.

Another big fail for Civ V, they keep piling up.

Hehe, what are you talking about. If Civ V is "a fail", then most publishers and developers probably wish they could "fail" as spectacularly as 2k/Firaxis. They are "failing" all the way to the bank!

Wow... making U.N. versatile like that... I like it! Doubt it will get implemented, but we can hope, right?

If enough people shared their interest in such an idea maybe the developers would consider it in the next (probably inevitable) expansion

    Really?

Did any of those votes really matter... well, other than the whole, win the game through population (which I DO miss).

I loved the concept of the UN and the Apostolic Palace...
But it never really materialized into adding a political/diplomatic angle to the game.

If they did all this, they'd have to move globalization and the UN way down in the tech line. Right now it's where it is because it is tied to a victory condition and therefore needs a lot of work to get.
