    Game Crashing when starting

I've had a problem with my Civ 5 game for awhile now. When I first purchased the game, it worked fine but I had stopped playing the game for a little while and when I tried to play again, I got an error message on Steam saying the game was not installed. I didn't have the time nor the patience to deal with it, so I let it sit for several months until this past weekend when I felt like playing again. I installed the game from scratch and tried to load it up, however I get a windowed screen pop up and it's all black, then the game crashes and I get an runtime error message. I've looked around various support forums and tried the suggestions I found there such as disabling the intro video, reinstalling the DirectX files, reinstalling vcredist_x86, running windowed vs. full screen and nothing has worked so far.

No idea what else to do.

Here's a copy of the dxdiag I ran on my laptop. For some reason it wouldn't let me put it all in one post.

You are right on the edge of the minimums

Can you start by updating your windows to Service Pack 1

I always knew that, and never really had any problems with the game until it mysteriously uninstalled itself. Anyways, I updated windows to Service Pack 1 (no idea why it hadn't done it before since I have automatic updates on), and still no luck. It's a bit different this time though, since when I try to run the game in fullscreen mode, I at least get a black screen before the error message pops up and the game crashes.

Ok, at least you were able to update, can you post an updated dxdiag please (top section only) and we can move forward from there.

While your monitor can run 1368 x 766, your integrated graphics is puttng out 1280 x 720 which I think is below game minimums. Can you match your monitor?

With the recent patch, having a minimum capable system seems to now be more important, even though you could run before.

I know this will NOT help you solve your problem, but I'd be very interested if you clicked on "My Computer" and posted your Windows Experience Index for your five components into this thread:

    http://forums.2kgames.com/showthread...perience-Index

I am curious to see how high the WEI for each component can go and still have problems running Civ V.

When I first ran the dxdiag my laptop was connected to my TV via the HDMI port which is why the resolution was off. The latest scan I've made used my laptop's built-in display with the correct native resolution. Attempting to run the game as such didn't yield any more success unfortunately.
