    Bioshock So Jerky! Why???

    Hi,
I have an asus a8n sli premium mobo,x2 4400+ cpu with 2gig Geil ram and 8800GTX running vista wit maxtor sata drive.
Ok so i downloaded the demo and it ran SMOOTH and as i liked the game so much i went out and bought it.
The problem is the game is running as the demo settings but its not smooth at all. It sometimes jerky and very annoying but it never happened in the demo.
    So what gives?

Are you further into the game than the demo? The demo barely had any areas that push the system like the full game has. Esp Neptunes Bounty, there's a big area in there that choked my system until the 2nd beta driver nVidia released.

But anyway, since you have an X2 did you install the AMD dual core timing fix located on the dvd drive? and as a precaution, if you aren't already make sure your hdd is defragged, and you have nothing that scans your hdd running in the background (like anti-spyware, and anti-virus programs -- kill em before starting it up). But Bioshock is a huge game, if your hdd is jumping all over the place to read all the fragmented data it could introduce skipping that you didn't recieve in the demo which was only about 1/3rd the size of the final game installed IIRC).

Can't be the copy protection as that already was in the demo too (people say anyway, I never check for that kinda bs). One other thing to check is if your dvd drive is being read when you get your hiccups too. IDE channel may be causing issues (also if you have a dying hdd it can cause stuttering too -- not everyone can hear the high frequencies coming from hdd's but listen for a soft click coming from your computer when it hiccups too). Those are extreme cases but just suggesting things to look at to narrow down the issue.

Could very well be Bioshock though, if you're using different display drivers than you did for the demo, go back to the ones you used for the demo and see if that resolves it too.
