    Bad map, looks similar to last week (except walk in) - 7cog+SoC but 7cog is very far, lack of gold, and annoying "maps of ..." from almost all huts (sometimes 25g). Production city will be slow too (8 turns or maybe 7 for 500h). Also bad walkouts (too late or 2 archers in city). Probably BC non-dom will be very hard to do.

    Couldn't catch any of the walk-out, so I settled for Settler stealing... got GS + GE, so Math and 1100BC Dom D...

    Other GPs were GA + GE and GH + GE (the worst combo, I think)


    Last week was unbelievably frustrating... having to win 4.5 or 6 vs 7 or 8 and to amass enough resources in time for the walk-outs or you had no chance with LAs (maybe 6) but in the past, I have lost 9 LA attacks in a row taking on 30 def AA.

    This week you have more options...


    Questions:

    Why do you not always get Religion from the Arabs? What are the factors?


    AI cheated a couple times moving single step LAs to move and attack same turn... they were not maching units... Unless they were multiple elite units...

    Does the last upgrade represent the unit? I forgot what a march/bltz/inf unit looks like! Do they look the same or take the uniform of the "top of the stack" unit?

    You should be faster (it's not hard after walk in, and walk outs are very late, Arabs 1300-1700 BC, i don't know what is changing seed but Dom V. is about luck with Arab walk out).

    It's random: BW or IW or Religion or nothing.

    Today i posted 0 AD Cultural V. - 1st run (no Ind+Corp from huts, 2xGS wasted), only 36 cities, CoL 2300 BC Demo 1200 BC, expanding is really slow due to Arab walk out too late (useless). I tried again and still no Ind+Corp from huts so i changed plans to Tech. V. but i lost, only 1 GS for Ind (no GS to Space Flight). With Ind+Corp from huts 100 BC is possible (but still 1GS for Communism is needed).

    First real session (had a little go yesterday), this map really sucks lol.... everything is so far and a very anemic walk-in...
    I guess there is no way of getting IW instead of BW... this is so wierd, first gotw walk-in without offensive units right away, for me that is, ~9 months (to the best of my memory anyway)

    This is why I skipped the walk-in and took Kar with only one A defending. I have a vet LA on galley to India, settlers to Tripoly (set-up for 7CoG, Kts/Cannon) and a LA mar/bltz to Zim mid 2000s.

    This is at a loss of 5-6 turns... but, I think I make it up over the long run...

    I'm revved up offensively a lot sooner, with both my cap and Kar having a 3 population instead of 2 each with walk-in. The 3 pops also allow me to bring Math up and research it. I go back to production next turn and just wait for that GS...

    and yes it is expansive but faster then walk-in at 3600 (no IW)

    Ok explain this Spy benefit in this case...?

    Is there a "steal technology" possibility on the drop down menu that I have been missing all this time?

    lol, no, its pretty simple.... All you do is use a spy to 'sabotage archer production' which delays the archer a turn (or more im not sure) allowing you to walk in at 3500 and get IW instead of BW.
    So at 3700 you settle and arm the citizens, then rush a warrior but attack barbs (50g) rather then move towards karakarum. at 3600 you rush a spy for 46g and waste it to delay walkin which you use original warrior to walk in with...

    All credits to Kadera obviously

    BTW, anyone: How much production is 'sabotaged' when using the spy? is it 2 hammers, 4, 6? or a percentage of banked hammers? anybody knows?

    100%, so AI cheaters needs next 7 (or 8) hammers to build 1st archer. Walk in is possible to ~3100 BC.

    My final scores:
    -200 BC Cultural V. - perfect without GB (2GB are needed for 300 BC)
    -1900 BC Dom.V. - GS for Mathematics and GS for Navigation
    Next week early SoC and 7cog are the best (start expanding 4 turns earlier is worth more than 1 city + 2 cheap techs from huts, no way to get Ind+Corp).

    I've only been playing CivRev about 2 months (played CivII on PS1), I'm using my buddy's x360 and his ID, ExtropianJedi. For maybe 3 weeks I played SP (deity) till he got me to play gotw Egyptians. As a rookie I did 13th Cult V and saw Kadera's o777o score, watched a video of him playing and got a glimmer of what you guys do. That's why I'm here, to say thanks to Kadera, John Fedderson, ScottieX, MagnaCarta, Nog of course for doing the early legwork, and my buddy Jason for his input. My game has improved greatly since we started reading your posts.

    Last Sat I tried my first dom v, prior to that worked only on my cult/econ game. Long way yet to go but this morning posted 1500 BC dom v on first try at a variation on my strategy (HA), I may be able to shave a little time off. Anyway, muchas gracias!

    Thanks John. I was wrong, though, only posted 1300 bc. Took Tripoli in 1500, forgot about having to keep it for a turn. I'd noticed before finishing at one time but posting 100 years later. That's a turn order glitch, right?

    For this one, a very lazy strategy. Easy walk-in on Mongels, no IW. Got it to give me 25 g instead of maps, spies and caravans to sell, I just pumped out horsemen, great seed on them. Zulus and Indians at 1900 walkouts, one archer each. Tripoli I'm still fine-tuning, 1500-1700 bc walkouts.
