    GoG.com

I'd like to suggest Bioshock be put on GoG.com

I've recently began to be a real fan of GoG.com since they started adding more recent games (Far Cry 2, The Witcher 2, Alan Wake, Alan Wake's American Nightmare, Assassins Creed) and I'm hoping that 2K Games soon starts putting games on GoG.com like Bioshock.

What'd you guys think? A DRM free complete version of Bioshock on GoG.com sound good? I for one would buy it as I'm a big fan of the Bioshock franchise.

If it were DRM-free, would that open it up for modding? I apologize if that's a ridiculous question, I'm still fairly new to the PC world, but if it were possible to start making custom campaigns and such that'd be awesome.

Unfortunately for Modding (which would have been a good thing) Rapture they would have to develop and supply the tools ($$$$$)
which really if they intend to do, they need to do from the very start (so to have those tools to use for their own internal development). Modding tools useable by players really need to be designed specificly for that use and it costs to develop them.

The more I think about my idea for a Rapture MMORPG, having alot of content (and player created content to keep new stuff coming) -- that feeling you got the first time you played Bioshock when everything was unknown and creepy and you didnt already know where you were being led or when something was going to jump out at you and attack you.

That would definitely be something to make happen in the MMORPG - so much content you get new places/experiences every time you play (and more game aspects for the 'creators' to play with so that it doesnt get repetative).

Even with a much simpler modding system for the orignal game(s) and a few talented players to create scenarios you could get that kind of thing that made Bioshock good. You would also get alot of wannabees creating alot of lame repetative stuff (as always) , but there would be enough good ones to do.

Actually providing the developer build of UDK they used to build the game would be enough. Yeah, it would be not very well optimized and would be very buggy but it is more realistic than them actually making a proper Editor for modding. The same(as in providing the developer build of UDK) has been done with Mirror's Edge and Borderlands. And some great stuff has spawned from that. It is really not much effort and money on the developers part but it could revive the sales if some talented modders decide to get working on it. So it's really a win-win situation.

I guess it depends on how much customization they did on the engine (Bioshock 1 2 supposedly was alot ontop of UE2), but basic terrain and object placement/editing might not be changed that much, scripting probably moreso (its the tool they bake the level with that would have to be imbedded in an IDE and THAT would have to handle every change they made to the basic engine).

If they did that it probably would leave tools that only a tiny fraction of the players could actually use (true 3D editing versus a building block system) but still it only takes a few players to create something (mods) useable by thousands.
