Civilization Versus HDMI
So . . . here is the deal. I run Civ 5 demo ( I try the demo before because bought EU Rome )
Anyway, I run the game demo with DirectX 9 . . . crashes, windows error searching.
Run the game demo with DirectX 10/11 and it works.
I can watch the video fine . . . then . . . the weirdest error I've ever seen happens . . .
A window pops up on my screen for a second, the game full screen window I'm guessing and it goes away. It is black, still see the boarder of the window.
Anyway, top left corner of my screen is a black rectangle. Upon further investigation . . . it is the game. Move my cursor to it and it switches to Civ 5 cursor. I shift tab for steam and little, tiny things pop up in the back rectangle, and it is the steam menus lol XD Seems like the game is running fine, but no civ menu . . . just black . . . and it switches to gray.
I've been dealing with this error, trying to solve. Funny thing is, I use a Sanyo HD tv. Funniest thing is, I switched out that for a Vizio we have and used VGA instead of Hdmi . . . and the game ran fine.
What? So . . . Civ 5 doesn't like my HDMI ? Ran it through HDMI to Vizio and it does same thing as with Sanyo.
Hmm. So . . . doesn't like my graphic's card? I've tried running it through admin, bypassing steam, disabling high DPI settings . . . I don't know what else to do . . . Tried installing DirectX multiple times but Direct 9 never works . . . so . . . if anyone is out there . . . who knows this issue . . . feel free to give me advice . . . here is my text info thingy - if you want . . . I could hook up VGA and run the settings . . . doubt that will help . . . maybe . . .

Best of all . . . I can run Dawn of War 2 on ultra graphics settings . . . average frame rate 19 however . . . so . . . and that works just fine . . . Whatever Civ Wants . . . it has to be battling HDMI . . . is it cord? I mean . . . what's the deal lol XD
Just for a laugh, here is a screen shot of what the game does . . .

Should look at your TV resolution. Looks like at x720 it is likely below the minimum needed for Civ V. Your Vizio is low edge at x768 but ok. So not the HDMI cable but the monitor.

Yup, figured that out after some tinkering XD
. . . sadly . . . I do not see ANYTHING with my Radeon control panel to OVERRIDE game resolutions . . . unless Civ doesn't like that at all . . . I remember on my Nvidia control panel, there was an override game/application settings
