Resolution problem

I have an old monitor that doesn't support a higher resolution than 1280x1024. When I start the game it says sync out of range so I guess the game starts at a higher resolution. How can I change the resolution before starting the game? I tried the setres command but it's not working.

Edit: Nevermind, I edited srengine.ini and changed resx and resy

I have a LG W2243S which can do the higher resolutions but gets the "Out of range" warning for anything over 60Hz. My card is a GTX 460. I have tried using "-safe" and "-autoconfig" settings in Steam but cannot seem to get past the problem. Does this game support 60Hz?

In PC demo - the screen with the waving flag:

Options > Graphics > Resolution

Set the resolution before you start the demo, otherwise you won't see this option (in the middle of playthrough).

I have the same "out or range" resolution problem on loading the game but I cannot edit the SRengine.ini file as it is in Chinese script.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem as I cannot find any answers anywhere?

Right click on the ini file, select open with then notepad or wordpad, dont use open, your default program might not work.

If that doesn't work sorry don't know, I've always edited ini files with notepad.

Edit just tried it and notepad works for me.

Right click on either the desktop shortcut or 'SpecOpsTheLine.exe' (the default installation path is - "C:\Program Files (x86)\2K Games\Spec Ops The Line\Binaries\Win32") and go to properties.

In the target box you will see "C:\Program Files (x86)\2K Games\Spec Ops The Line\Binaries\Win32\SpecOpsTheLine.exe". Your path may differ if you didn't install to the default directory.

Simply add " -windowed" (without the quotes) to the end of the target line so that it reads... ("C:\Program Files (x86)\2K Games\Spec Ops The Line\Binaries\Win32\SpecOpsTheLine.exe" -windowed)

Start the game, change the resolution and then remove the " -windowed" part from your target line.

Boom.

All I can say is that it worked for me and I am now playing it at 1280x1024.
