    Disconnect in Multiplayer Lobby

    Hi,

Recently a friend and I have been trying to play private games of Civ V online. The first time we tried it, it worked fine. No connection issues or anything, and we saved the game when we were done. The next day we tried, and whenever we tried to load the game, it would disconnect one of us or both of us from the lobby. No issue, we would just start a new game, right? Well no, because now whenever we try to have a private game, no matter who hosts, as soon as the person joining does anything (types, chooses difficulty or civilization), the host is disconnected from their lobby, but for the host the other person is disconnected from the lobby, if that makes sense.

So I was hoping we could get some help. It worked fine the first time, and now we keep getting disconnected.

Thanks in advance for any help we can get.

I'm having the exact same issue, is there a solution to this? I got the game and bought an extra copy for my bud and now I can't play with him. This is kind of ridiculous this far after the initial release of the game...

Also having pretty much the same experience since coming back to Civ 5 to play G+K. Generally my friends and I only play the game multiplayer; and the disconnects in the lobby (and during the game when we resorted to using Evolve to get past that) have proved to be a very frustrating and disappointing experience.

Seriously, how hard is it to make multiplayer games these days? The industry has moved onto massive projects like MMO's and even a small development team like those behind Minecraft can put together a relatively reliable multiplayer product.

If multiplayer isn't fixed I couldn't care any less about future expansions and DLCs. Bring on Civ 6 with some competent multiplayer code!

I was having similar issues, but I was able to fix it by shutting down and exiting hamachi. Other VPN software could cause it potentially as well if you're running a hamachi altenative.

Same issue here. Unplayable, literally. I don't think me and my friend have ever finished a multiplayer game of Civ5. Every patch we come back, every patch we leave again.

Me and my friend have the same....we have since the start of Civ V been able to play Multiplayer....but since this Fall patch we get disconnected in the lobby....If I host and invite him he gets in....but right away I can see the ping go up....5s....10s....20s....and disconnect...never had this in the past. And it is always the one joining who gets a message that the host have disconnected.

I would love if this could get sorted as soon as possible as I have really enjoyed playing Civ V MP.

    ----SOLUTION----
I was having this same problem as well but i was able to easily solve it when i found the problem. The problem is hamachi(for me at least) and to correct this simply go into network and sharing centre(on windows) and disable the hamachi network. Then you should be good to connect throught the games server

I would like to thank for the solution with Hamachi....may I ask why I had to do this now....have Hamachi done an update that causes this or might it be something in the new patch? I have never played through Hamachi in the past but I have had it installed....so when I went in a deactivated the Network (eventough Hamachi is not running) we could play MP again

    So THANKS

The thing with Hamachi didn't help. Though I had Tunngle installed, but it's the same thing. Are there any ideas how to solve a problem. Reinstalling the system didn't help also. I still have the problem when entering the lobby and other members press the ready button I see them as AI, and they see me as AI.
Could this problem exist because my IP isn't static?

Your IP being static usually has nothing to do whether someone can connect to you or not. As long as they have your current IP address and your ports are properly forwarded/everything is open correctly you can connect. Your IP won't change or anything while your currently connected to the internet, as your IP is assigned to you until such a disconnect occurs (Usually your modem ceases communication with your ISP). As for disconnecting from lobby, anytime this has ever happened to me (and the select few I do play with) we verify game cache, ensure we're all playing with directx 9 (For some reason it helped when one of us were getting frequent disconnect issues/Desync issues.) and completely turned off (Disable the connection) any Hamachi/VPN software that runs at 1400 MTU for tolerance reasons. If this doesn't work, I'd love to try to play with you to see first hand. With this setup, we've never had any issues, and we usually run our games to turn 400-500 (8+ hours long) without a single hiccup.

Thanks for the answer. But this won't solve it. Besides it all began after G&K expansion. And I'm not the one experiencing that problem. I just really don't know what can be the issue.
If you've got Steam version, you can add me to your friend's list and we'll try it sometime. My nickname is the same.
