    What are you playing?

In the last week or so before release I was trying to decide what to play to keep me occupied while waiting for G&K to come out. I was wondering what other forum members have been playing or even what they've been occupying themselves with to pass the time until the 19th/22nd.

Myself, I broke down and bought Diablo III. It was pretty disappointing and I only played through once.

Right now I am balancing my time between Civ V and Mass Effect 2 (still haven't really gotten into it but finally am giving it an honest shot). Of course, that may fall through and I may pick up a cheap indy game off Steam to tinker with. Cities in Motion is on sale so I may dive into that one as it's seems like a good game to play for an hour at a time.

Any others with thoughts on this? I'd be interested to hear.

Kingdoms of Amalur. I have to say I can't sympathise with all of the positive reviews.

Anno 2070. Recommend it for anyone seeking a semi-futuristic builder game where war isn't everything (but still present) and doesn't get a rash from the words "real" or "time"

What I have *been* playing since my CiV enjoyment bottomed out:

Europa Universalis III, Hearts of Iron III, Crusader Kings II & Victoria II...throw in Minecraft in there as well

Get yourself a refund for Diablo 3. Blizzard totally did not deliver on what was promised. If you live in North America there is a 30-day refund period, so you still have time. I got a refund the other day for the two copies I bought; I just called and told them I can't stand the lag anymore and I want a refund. The only problem is you have to wait on hold a couple hours to talk to someone.

Europa Universalis is an awesome game. I spent quite some time playing that one up until recently.

Uhhh Civ Revolution for Xbox, Cod MW3 and Civ5.

And some free to play games on Steam that always disappoint. I am going to go on a 24 hour gods and kings binge starting June 19th.

I tried playing Diablo III hardcore with my teams of friends on release. We were 3rd in the US on progression in inferno; behind method and kripps group. Unfortunately I found the game very disappointing and quit in the middle of act 2 xD. I figured D3 would last me a month... sigh... Now i'm playing the reboot of All Points Bulletin on steam and its not so bad; kinda fun actually. Playing a tiny bit of civ 5, anno 2070's a great game but bored with no one else to play with, and gonna boot up Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion tomorrow!

P.S: There's actually a month-refund period for Diablo III? If so, I better jump on that.

I've been playing some Minecraft. I'm working on a texture pack Avatar The Last Airbender inspired. Also, some Kerbal Space Program. (Both indie games, love indie games)

It is a game that seems to get more boring as you get further into it. Very grindy, like a cartoony Skyrim.

I keep eyeing that game, but from what I read, the eco propaganda is through the roof. Not sure I really want to play an Al Gore simulator

Eco propaganda is through the roof if you play with eco-faction. Choose tycoons, pollute as much as you want. Air turns black and sea is full of floating plastic and your people will not even care You decide how you play the game.

Factions are caricurates of themselves and what they represent. Ecos = enviroment, tycoons = make money and techs don't just care about anything else than new technology. Eco people drink tea, tycoons liquor and techs... energy drinks! Lousy nerds..

If you want to see one of my eco-cities, you can do see it here.

Well that's sorta my point: it sounds like a game of ridiculous stereotypes and falsehoods. I guess I'm probably taking it too seriously, more seriously than the game probably takes itself.

Also playing Anno 2070 after burning out on the current CIV AI. I've been a fan of the entire Anno series and it's the real-time, civ builder, and problem solving that attracts me and the propaganda (tycoon or eco) is just a distraction, although there are "quests" that are associated with each faction (ecos want don't like their eco-balance bad and tycoons want to maximize income).

After a post in this forum, I took a look at Warlock: Master of the Arcane, liked it (a lot of what I liked in CIV and missed from Master of Magic - even though it's not actually a replacement). Just bought the latter, on sale, on Steam.

I'll probably still play Anno as well as G&K once it comes out.

Recettear. It appeals to my Judaism.

I bought Crusader Kings II because it was on sale yesterday for like 12$. I'll probably play that pretty soon.

Imperialism I, astonishingly enough. Past that, Civilization V and a bit of Painkiller.

Like you, Slick, I picked up Crusader Kings II while on sale. I'll have to give that a look sometime. Its a shame you can't port your game to EUIII, though.

I can't even begin to tell you how much I will be playing Gods & Kings upon release...

I occasionally play Civ V, but other than that, I'm on my 360 playing MLB 2k12 (Oh look, another 2k game), MW3, ME3, BF3, Reach, and seeing how my friend is letting me borrow his AC Revelations, I've been playing that, and hating the MP with that.

Summer sucks due to the rarity of good games. Now I have to wait til November to get new games. Might pick up G&K though.

As I eagerly await GAK, most of my gaming time lately has been spent on Diablo 3 with a sprinkling of Civ 5 here and there for more relaxed gaming sessions away from the carnage; my other games I just play randomly when in the mood. (I was also a part of the D3 closed beta, so I've been playing it for even longer.)

Before that, I was playing Starcraft 2 alongside Civ.

Games I currently have installed on my machine:

Diablo 3: Takes up most of my gaming time right now. Working my way into Act 2 Inferno with my barbarian. Also, patch 1.0.3 looks fantastic.

Civ 5: Once GAK comes out, I'll be playing (and probably tweak-modding again) this most of the time!

Starcraft 2: I fire a game off every now and then so I don't totally lose my instincts. Looking forward to HotS (especially as a Zerg player).

Skyrim: I still like to become a dovahkiin and escape back there from time to time and adventure. Looking forward to the next patch (mounted combat!) and Dawnguard!

M&M: Heroes 6: Haven't played it for a long time and still waiting for it to receive some heavy patching. Patch 1.5 looks a little promising and I may fire-up a game to try it out, but it's going to need a lot more. Very disappointing, because I really loved the new design of the game.

ALMOST bought Crusader Kings 2 the other night while it was on sale. Though, I figured with GAK and other things, I already have enough to occupy my time for now and well into the future.

I'm also playing through games that I got awhile back but never finished for one reason or another, in anticipation of their sequels: Bioshock 2, Far Cry 2 and Prototype. I haven't even started Skyrim, though I bought it on release. I'll probably wait until Dawnguard.

Really looking forward to Dishonoured though, as well as Poklemons Black and White 2. And Gods and Kings of course.

I've been playing Civ V a lot as well. I forgot to mention that because I thought it would be kinda self-evident. I've been playing multiplayer with Randy (doesn't post much here) and random people.

I want to get Far Cry 2 - I quite enjoyed the first one which was a total surprise as I usually don't like pure FPS.

I'm like you with regards to Skyrim. I purchased it on day one, downloaded it but never played it, and uninstalled it after 1 week. It now sits in my Steam list of games that need to be installed. It just seems too overwhelming to try to get started with a game. I intend to play in the coming months but for now it will have to wait until I'm inspired.

I am taking a break from Civ V, since I am impatiently waiting for the new features of G&K (I don't know if it makes sense, but I somehow feel that something is missing in Vanilla already).

At the moment I mostly play Wesnoth or Rise of Nations.

the last few games i played were Star Wars The Old republic (MMO), Mass Effect 3, Diablo 3 and Civ 4 (Master of Mana Mod, Fall from Heaven Mod and BtS). the MMO got boring after playing 2 chracters to max level. Mass Effect 3 was awesome, but i usually don't finish this sort of game more than once so i haven't really played that after i finished the campaign. Diablo 3 was entertaining for about 2 weeks. i played through the first 3 difficulty settings and eventually lost interest halfway through the "inferno" mode. so right now i'm fooling around with various versions of civ 4 and if civ 5 g&K turns out to be worse than expected, i will probably just keep playing civ 4.

I simply play Civ5, sprinkled with Crusader Kings II. Anno 2070 is a good Anno game and I love it, but last time playing is been a while now...

Yes you are. Stay away from it.

Anno 2070 is about building a city that look's good to you, random quests and occasionally defend your cities. Also underwater oil drilling, algea growing and researching technologies. But the main focus is build build BUILD. Don't get me wrong, It can be easy like kids game on easy level, but 3 star missions are HARD. Power games mission is something that makes you pull your own hair and a little red devil appear on your shoulder whispering words like 'trainer' and 'cheat'.

Enjoyed the game very much and played every mission to completion, even MP missions plus many free games. But it shouldn't be taken too seriously. 8)

TOR. Always. And some Diablo 3, and SC2. Beat Inferno mode (finally)

Only if you live in North America. My credit card was just credited today: $63x2. Just call Blizz up and tell them the lag is way too bad and you want a refund.

I played TOR for my review, but I still can't believe they went subscription-method. What a colossal mistake, as the plummeting subscription numbers are showing.

Indeed. In fact, I can't believe they went pure-MMO, or at least presented it as that. It sounds like it could be played very enjoyably single-player (which is what I'd want), but all publicity is about it being MMO, and a monthly subscription when one wants to play on one's own is just ridiculous.

What version did you start playing in and whats your favorite version?

I started in Beta 1.6 but my favorite version is 1.7, mainly because it was the simple days of Minecraft, no NPC villages or other structures. I like simplicity.

I am not sure which version it was at the start exactly. I think it was early Alpha, shortly after the Haloween update that introduced the nether.
My favourite update was the one introducing pistons, since they open lots of opportunities. I wish there was more machinery of that kind.

I haven't played in a while, so I have no experience with villages, etc..., but I thought to give it a try after trading is introduced in the next update.
