I think I borked the 'pooter

This left me scratching my head for quite a bit. She actually doesn't like me.

Maybe she looked at my tanks, looked at her Tercios, then looked back to my tanks again and decided she didn't want to be a smudge on the map. Of course, her forces wouldn't be so medieval if she only pretended to like me for a bit more instead of annulling TWO research agreements

That is weird. I've never gotten more than 50 gold for open borders. Maybe she was hiding her AFRAID status by pretending to be HOSTILE?

Even afraid AIs don't overpay. Also, she was "guarded." I'm not sure why she was such a ☺☺☺☺. I never aggressed her (or anyone else), picked on/up her CSs (she had none), jacked her land through an Artist, buy land near her borders, etc. I did kick her ass pretty thoroughly for backstabbing me though, but I didn't bother taking her capital. What a ☺☺☺☺☺.

I should also mention that she offered massive underpayments when I proposed resources to her. This just doesn't make sense.

That is very weird. Are you running any mods? If so, perhaps the mod maker made some changes to how the AI values open borders. Otherwise, it may be a one time glitch.

No it is not a glitch for sure. I have had this happen to me in multiplayer as well with AI and in singleplayer. Civs that border you and aren't friendly sometimes pay more than 50 gold for open borders. I can't explain why.

Did they explore the borders previously? They might be scouting you.

I think it's something like this. Normally when they don't care and dislike you, they won't bother buying your open borders, but when they hate you sometimes they'll pay.
