Yeah it was unfortunate that first game. I settled next to a barb to get it one flag after naming a tile. It gave me HBR which some might think is good but in this situation it let me down as it took too long to get a horse out whereas with gold I could of had the WA to Zimbabwe about 2-3 turns before Mawpawk got there with his and took them down. He gets them and can now completely block me off to the south.

There are a few barbs knocking about but I got a spy from one and 30g from the other. I'm well short of my 100g and landlocked!! I build warriors to sell and finally get 100g and settle coast to get a galley out and finish ha and load it up. I sail around and get a friendly which makes the army vet and then another which made it elite (blitz) <-- I think that is the first time I have ever wanted/needed upgrades from friendlies. Meanwhile Maw has taken Moscow & Rome and is now in republic!!

He must have felt relatively relaxed with his chokes and I sneak round the outside and flank an empty city and then take the two archers down in the next one and defend it from his horse army. These were two prime cities on fish/dye whale. I load up the super galley again and carry on round the island and see KT. A vet cannon wouldn’t hurt to add to the HA but it’s at this point Maw’s screen did something weird and when he left I couldn’t end the turn. Shame as it was my first competitive game in 5 weeks and I was proud of turning round a hopeless situation.

Second game yeah I took arabs for fundi with a WA and after threatening the Aztecs earlier on for 25g they never built more than 2 warriors in their cap so rolled over to a fundi AA from the hill. Easy expansion as India as I settled on oak/game combo and disappeared into the tech distance. 18 – 7 I think when the towel was thrown in.

I managed to beat Morte's 7cog, AoC Chinese with my Chinese. I got all 4 caps and killed his HA with mine. He gs'd nav and I walked in on an empty city of his and got nav from him, that pretty much ended it. I got GB from monarchy and used it on EITC he got one from his culture and built sam castle but it was to late by then. Apparently I won a 2-2 with 5 legion armies on it, I already had gotten invention and gs'd industrialization when I did so I'm pretty sure I could've defended but glad I didn't have to find out GG. Just one more 4-0 against Mawpawk and I'm golden

first 2 i can easily see how he coud quit.. but china ? China is good even with a bad start. besides it was against mawpawk and he's not really very good...

as to the other two i can easily see one side having a write off of a start.

mongol games if the other guy gets a good cap and tech can easily lead to a quit very fast, because you go all out for the 3 warrior kill on an ai cap and loose then you have 0 warriors and the other guy has 2 caps a nice tech and soon the run of the map. you can't just muck around because his 2 caps are almost like having 3 caps.

and games vs china can get pretty sad if you can't get to them for ages (eg a slow start with japan). Because if they hit col and you still haven't found them.. things start to look bad real fast.

Yes, it would make a little boy named Mawpawk dreams come true. Unfortunately I have to crush them Another 4-0 stomping is in order, sorry I also really enjoyed this tournament, no time restraints made people less weary about joining and I think it went pretty smooth except for mine and Liam's hiatus

As always not the best episode when it's the first in a series, but it's still ok. Shame quality is not 100%. I'd say the best sitcom by far.

Well me and Maw had a couple great games but I ended up winning 4-1, I almost had 4-0 but I lost 4 galleys to him 1-1 and my Ha to his legion 4.5-2, but they were fun thanks for running a good tourney maw. The Asian mac daddy is here

Guess I'll do a little write up.

My Japan V.S. Indians

Can't remember specifics but he got KT fairly early and took out the Mongols. I got a friendly, teched HBR and took out Paris from a hill with my vet WA, get 100g and kill his KT by out maneuvering him with my HA. I get 7cog a bit later and just steam roll from there once I kill his galley with 2 legion armies in it he concedes.

China mirror.

Good game, I new the map exactly since I was playing it right before we started playing. I name 2 tiles and take a barb and get galley from it. I know there is a civ on the island above me so I prepare to take it. I galley drop Indians on the mainland while Maw is working on the barb 3 tiles away from it. He gets his 100 quick and makes a HA I threatened Americans on the island and am able to build warriors to hold off his HA until I could get mine over there, meanwhile my warrior is taking all the barbs and friendlies on the island above. I kill a couple of warriors but he kills my HA with his 4.5-3. It hurt pretty bad but luckily he didn't come after my capital since I didn't have much left and was only half way through BW. I steal GB from Americans and take out 3 pop barb on island to make a vet HA, I barely take out Americans who were at 5 or 6 pop I think. I start to expand to some resource rich islands up north and find KT and AoC with only 3 cities, didn't want him getting it. I need to stop his expansion so I bring my kt and a vet AA over and slow him down considerably, meanwhile I drop my infiltration HA off at the bottom of the map away from all the action and where all his empty cities were. I take 3 of them and teched masonry, irrigation and monarchy as I was doing it. I got a GB for my first GP which I used on sam and held the cities I took of his down south. From there I just did what China does, tech like crazy. Got nav and GB'd EITC in Washington he came at me with some catapults but lost 14-18 I think Maw said and he called it. Even if he would've taken Beijing from me I would've had my vet cruiser fleet there the next turn and a few pikeman to take it back with. He also lost a few legion armies and AA's and a couple CA's trying to take his cities back down south.

My Indians V.S his Japan

Get HBR from friendly at 3500 and settle first turn with rubber. I get my 100g fairly quick and he sends me a message saying "gg I'll play it out" I don't know what thats supposed to mean since I haven't met him but OK. He takes a barb from me attacking from a galley and gets his 100g. I build galley and put 1 vet HA on going for him across the way and take out Arabs at 2400 for BW after I was halfway done teching it, in the meantime he rushes a galley and kills mine with the HA in it. OUCH... He built a legion army and was attacking Americans right next to him, I hit 5 tech and switch to fundy and I overrun his double wounded legion army next to Washington. He attacks 2-4.5 from his empty 100g city and wins! So I'm down 2 HA's and now its looking really bad. I proceed to lose 3 more galleys to his invincible galley so I call it.

My Indians V.S. his China

I'm on a bad part of the map with no AI's and an easy choke point for him. Get HBR from friendly and a naming tile and take first barb at 3300 I think for 30g. He sells his Warrior though I was able to declare war on it. I take second barb for 50g and get 2 more naming tiles, find another friendly and barb and get march upgrade for carvan which I sell to get my 100g. I build galley and set sail. He takes out Germans the turn I unload it and I attack the next turn 9-4.5 killing his HA. I get AoC with 3 cities and 7cog at about 500bc I start stacking vet legions getting ready to attack him, then I see him switch production in the city right next to his captial to the GW and saw a unit twitch behind it so I figured he had a GB I decided to attack his cap with my only legion army there and am shocked to see only a WA and take it 13.5-9. He then GB's GW and asks for peace. By now I have taken out the Mongols and a nice city next to their cap. I only need one more capital to win the japs are a few tiles north of Beijing but Maw gets SoC and GS's invention for his 13th tech. I know I have to race now he gs's steam a couple turns later and is at 19 tech in demo but acts to late, I take Kyoto with 3 vet LA's a single vet legion and a vet AA. 5/5 caps and victory is mine.
