Issues when playing games Multi Player

Hi guys,

I have been trying to play a few games with friends after purchasing the game on Steam and we keep getting disconnected. The game also crashes during gameplay out of the sudden and it is independent of who is hosting it (we have tried the 3 of us hosting different games and have faced the same issue).

Are there any ports that I should open or anything that would allow me to play the game with a lot more stability?
Yesterday there were ping issues as sometimes it would take about a minute latency.

What kind of pings do you get?
What kind of settings do you use? (Low, medium or high res?)
Do you notice similar issues with other games?

We get crazy pings like it'd start at something like 300ms, then go to like 2s, 5s, 10 seconds...until it'd disconnect.
I'm not sure HOW the settings would be an issue here but it varies from player to player...
And no issue like that with other games.

I have the exact same problem with two friends. The multiplayer in general does not work properly for about two weeks (loading erros, disconnects, runtime errors), but sometimes we were "lucky" and could at least play for one, two hours until the first problem occured. Since two days, we can join the lobby of a saved game, but the pings for all players are exactly the same and simply grow to 30s (from <1ms) until everybody is disconnected. It does not matter who is the host (different computer systems), we all have the same problems. Civ worked fine before, and I have no problems with my other steam-games.
