Question stupid question from someone who hasn't played one second of bioshock yet

I am completely new to the series and thought i would buy both 1&2 on ebay since they are running pretty cheap. but appearantly i can't read and i bought bioshock for 360 and bioshock 2 for ps3. the question i have is do you need to play both of them on the same console, like is it a sequel with Save File Transfer or anything like that. Or would it not effect me in any way if i played each of them on different consoles?

No they are completely independant (no shared files, plot decisions, nothing). You dont have to have played the first one to play the second...

They were even made by 2 different companies.

You probably do want to play them in order to get more understanding out of the second one.

Yup, you are good to go, davidcopafeel. And you're in for a treat.

Although there is no save file transfer, there is one tiny difference between the PS3 and 360 versions of BioShock. Because the PS3 version came out one year later, an exclusive DLC is available for purchase on that platform called the Challenge Rooms. You won't have the option of purchasing them with your 360 copy, but they exist entirely outside the narrative and aren't necessary at all to enjoy the games. The BioShock 2 DLC is the same on both platforms, so no worries there. I think most of us will agree that if you only buy one DLC, Minerva's Den is far and away the best.
