    Somehow lost a Diplomatic Victory

New to Civ 5. Decide to try for a Diplomatic Victory. Make tons of gold and build UN. Right before the vote, I buy up all the City States so they are all allies. Call the UN Vote and they all vote for....freaking Ramesses! Wtf!?

I even declare war on Ramesses, so all the City States declare war on him too. They still vote for him.

    How did I lose?

You have to take them as allies one turn before the vote not at the turn of the vote, hope this makes sense.

It's either a bug or more likely, Ramesses has bought up all the city states between you ending your turn and the UN vote occurring. I've had it happen to me that way before.

That is what I was afraid of. This stinks, I spent 3 days on that game and dominated everyone, and I lost because of a technicality.

    Thanks.

Not really...its just the way the game is played. You can see diplomatic commitments and howmany votes nayoen will get any time so this should not have been a surprise.
