    Thanks 2k!

I've been waiting for a proper remake of this game since the PS2 showed up, there has been many alternatives for the pc (like UFO: Extraterrestials), but nothing on consoles, and since i have consoles i never played on the pc again.
I know there are going to be changes, and so far i welcome(/understand the reason for) them all (if you really want to please the hardcore fans of the original, just include a dosbox version of the original with your release and they will be happy).
Keep up the good work, i will definitely buy it for the PS3 when it is released!

    No console wars.

You guys made me an XCOM fan, thanks.

Technically speaking it's not a console war. Just pointing out the superior platform which is not a console.

But yes lets avoid the usual PS3/XBOX war.

Actually, it's the 2nd sticky on the main forum page. The PC is still looked up as a console when it comes to the chest-beating, my-controller-can-beat-up-yours type discussions.

    The Mods frown on it.

    I gave my friendly warning.

    Why October? Why?

Why can we no have now? @n@

Well I guess we can't have it now partially due to marketing and the fact that the game is still being balanced and the PC interface isn't finished.

More then anything else, I would want to thank Firaxis for proofing bitComposer (and so many other Publishers) wrong for claiming that Turn-Based is dead! And not making another FPS

I am a bit concerned about some of the choices made, but the fact that XCOM remains TBS is enough for me... regardless of the platform you play on :P

I would also like to thank the people of Firaxis, not for making this game (I'm not sure if it was their call to make), but for being die-hard fans of the original, and for doing their best to respect the source material (especially its monstrous compendium).

I'm going to love this game, and I love you guys for it as well.

I literally created an account on this forum to express the same gratitude. This is the first time I have ever been excited enough to want to pre-order a video game. Please hold true to the original, but I love the concept of "sexying" up the graphics in a Turn Based Strategy Game. I'm still one of what appears to be the minority of players that love turn based strategy rpg games. I only wish you had the rights to the Fallout franchise.

"I only wish you had the rights to the Fallout franchise." Agreed! Just Tactics, Bethesda can keep the RPG side... and Jagged Alliance IP as well, what bitComposer did to it isn't all bad, but it simply doesn't feel like a JA game.

    I'll chime in here.

Everything looks great so far. The first couple major changes I heard about worried me but I'm converted.

Speaking of rights, I don't suppose you can get your hands on Master of Magic?

Just the best thought ever. Now we only have to wait till Bathesda fails it's own efoorts, and Jake Solomon to put it up. (Dreamings, dreamings...)

I rented the original on ps one back in the mid 90's...I kept it 7 months and racked up a $360 bill...should have just kept the game. I never paid the bill. I later went back to the video store with a friend to use his account but the game was gone...and never resurfaced. I had no idea at that time it was limited and held value - minus the epic time I had playing it. I was left with x-com withdrawals for almost a decade and then I found a copy on ebay and sprung the $65 for another copy(mint with book and case)! I have dreamed of the day that a real sequel of this game would come. Although its not an exact pimped up replica I feel that the team dedicated to this reinvention share the same passion for this title as I do and the changes they make will be overall improvements to game play experience. I hope the sales are strong and the marketing team does there job to get the word out so we can see yet another installment a few years down the road!

LOL.. that's quite the combo of dedication and procrastination.

    Welcome to the forums!

Not sure what version you'll be looking for this time around, but if you're looking at PC, all 3 (ok, five) of the old XCOMs are available on Steam to tie you over.

Thank you. I am defiantly a procrastinator.

I have the steam copies and definitely getting it for the pc this time around...if they mention some sort of co-op or multi-player game type I might get it for x-box 360 as well. I would be shocked if they do any form of multi-player...but will not be disappointed if its excluded.

Finally a game to be excited about. Have dreamed of a decent remake (or re-imagining if the creators prefer) of x-com enemy unknown for many years. I'll be pre-ordering the PC version and getting my hopes well up.

Massive thanks to the developing team, purse string holders, publishers and everyone else who are making this happen!

Thank goodness I only heard about it this recently, less time to wait!

Off to share the news with more x-com fan friends (or find out why they didn't share the news with me).

Never been more excited about a game release. For me the best game ever made. Re-invented for 21st century and long may it continue to be the best. Thanks to all at 2K games and Firaxis for there continuing effort to bring us what has to be the holy grail of games.
