    Japan and G&K

Since they say combat is going to take longer, 3-4 turns for what used to take 1-2, do you think Japan's already powerful UA will skyrocket in strength? As it is right now it's fairly easy to kill their units in one turn if you've got the numbers or have a tech advantage albiet with heavier Hp loss than against other civs but with combat lasting more rounds one Japanese unit can inflict wicked damage and an army of them will take a ton of ranged units to fight off. I'm wondering if it will get nerfed.

Well the truth is that we don't have enough info to call this. A lot will depend on things like minimum and average damage inflicted by the units. If everything (except minimum damage) is scaled to the current system we might end up with something very similar except the five, logistics enabled, archers can kill a modern armor situation. If average damage is not scaled meaning that units inflict less damage than before then the Japanese UA and things like insta-heal gain in value.

Eh well they did say battles between units would take longer than it does now. If it takes 4 turns for a 1 on 1 battle Japan will hit full strength all 4 times where others get weaker and weaker. Right now this isn't as big a deal because since they still take full damage, attacking that 2 nd round might lose you the unit so it's really mostly useful when healing on defense. With the change to combat that wont be such a big worry and they'll be a real offensive threat. You're right though we'll have to see it in play before we know what the effect is going to be.

Yeah you're right. I'm really curious as to how those kinds of abilites are going to play out. Might be even better if the Ottoman UA gets better, right now it stinks. I don't think they even convert barbarians as easily as the Germans do, or at least thats how it has seemed the couple of play throughs I've done with the Ottomans.

They did say that battles will take longer but when I saw the demo the battles looked suspiciously similar to CIV vanilla except that the numbers were bigger, 45 instead of 4. I mean he did manage to kill that rifleman unit in one turn by attacking 2-3 times and that battle looked vanilla-like. Though that's only my guess, I've watched the demo only once and I could be wrong.

Maybe they just mean capturing a city will take longer but I thought the way it was worded they meant unit battles too.
