    pcgamer interview vid

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NAA5tiePKw

not too much new, talks about the difficulty levels a little bit.

Also mentions that the initial research is "led" a little, but then it opens up... thinking in conjunction with the other hands on pieces, it might mean the initial stuff is a little bit more restrictive than the mid/late game?

Also shows the crysallids running across the map at one point... speedy blighters don't remember seeing that in some of the other vids...

In the PC Gamer interview, at 3:00 min mark you can see, an infected civilian being transformed into a grown Chryssalid. In the original, infected soldiers turned into weaker Zombies first before they emerged as a grown Chryssalid. It doesn't look like there is a similar process in the remake. The body of the infected just sprouts legs....hymmz, kinda boring. Would like to see more of a Human/Chryssalid hybrid that would give some ppl few nightmares lol

nah, there is definately the zombie phase... 2:26 the sniper nails a crysallid standing next to a civy zombie.

The bit at 3:00 looks like a crysallid emerging from a downed trooper.. ie you've killed the zombie and it emerges

    there is also this: http://bulk.destructoid.com/ul/22783...R_006-620x.jpg

a zombie trooper in the foreground, a zombie civy in the background and a dead crysallid in the middle

Nice. Thanks for the vid LeftyRighty. I kinda find armor that makes you psychic...well, lame, but whatever.

My question on difficulty is this; will there be anything like, showing you a mission specific difficulty? I mean, I don't want to send in a squad of rookies to begin leveling up, and find them severely outmatched (Chrysalids and Mutons everywhere or something). Unless of course they can deal with that regardless of weaponry and such, so long as you play smart enough tactically.

So you wouldn't find it pretty terrifying if one minute, your best mate was there with you fighting the aliens, then the next, he's sprouted legs and claws - which of course will burst through his existing body causing him to scream in agony? That wouldn't give people a few nightmares?

    There's a reason for this.

You're not going to catch an old pro with the whole zombie/chryssalid thing anymore. We're far too savvy.

So what do you do? Simple. Just drop it for a horrifying transformation. Also, maybe they have the ability to infect dead human corpses so your old "scorched earth" policy doesn't negate their advantage. I don't know, that's just guessing.

Though they can jump up at least two levels at a time now. Try to sleep at night now.

Good point. I don't fully remember the old graphics of the chrys attacking but wasn't it just moving it's arms - I always thought it was infecting the person - an internal facehugger. The new graphics... it's pretty clear the person doesn't survive the infection - hopefully they have to be alive as it's occuring.

It's just an sadistic, cruel, evil, wonderful addition to them... however you feel about the game the designers have to be given props for this.

I wonder if there will be something similar to deal with flyers or if flying armour will become an immediate staple of every commander?

Haha, well put! After examining the morphing part, frame by frame, there is actually more to it than just wiggling limbs and puff of red to revel our new friend. There is a lot more detail to the victims body and when the Chryssalid emerges, there are parts of the flesh being ripped away with a few liters of blood splashing everywhere.

You can also see that the zombie is wearing very feminine slippers, unless the body of the soldier (right below the morphing Chryssalid) belonged to a female and that's just an empty armor that is left behind.

Now I do have to retract my previous statement that the morphing looks boring, it actually doesn't, my bad folks. Poor choice of words on my part. Let my clarify, it looks good and gory, however the 2nd part of the morphing somehow gets lost in translation. Since there is this new "Glam Cam" feature, why not see the torso and the upper limbs have more of gruesome yet subtle exit?

Haha, very much so, hell I was crapping bricks at every sight of one, and if my tier 1 guys didn't take it out upon encounter, than I really started to sweat, but if there is one, the chances are, that around the corner there will be another. It was terrifying! And than, of course my best soldiers end up getting infected. Giving them the ability to jump? Sinisterly AWESOME!!!

I still haven't watched any Chryssalid kill videos and I'm not going to either. That's one reveal I want to save for the game itself.
