G&K MP Question - Will AI interact diplomatically?

As the Title says, I'm curious if the AI will interact with players in MP in the Gods and Kings expansion? I know that work has been done on the MP front with animations showing up, but was curious if there was information out there regarding other aspects of MP (the AI, mods, etc).

    Thanks!

I hope so, I've been waiting for this fix for a while (along with mod support).

Quoting myself from the multiplayer forum: currently the AI on single player contacts you only for the following:

    1) Open borders for open borders
    2) Shall we declare war on...
    3) Don't buy any more land near my territory/ expand/ other civ/ or city state related
    4) Shall we make a declaration of friendship

This is the only difference between MP AI and SP AI, everything else is exactly the same i.e war declarations, expansion, agreeing to the above if you contact them work fine. Why would you want the AI to contact you about the above on MP anyway when you are playing against other human players?

Who said I'm playing against other players?

It's been about a year since I touched this game so I may be misremembering, but I thought in single player they would contact you for pacts of cooperation, trading resources, etc.

If you are only playing against humans, than the above is irrelevant as you wouldn't use AI slots anyway. Many people like to play mixed games, either in teams against the AI or using the AI against other players in which case a full diplomacy system is appreciated (and not just using AI to fill slots because you can't get enough players). I've also had plenty of times where the AI in SP proposed a trade/pact/research agreement/whatever that if I went and made the same proposal to them (on the same turn) they don't accept. Also, unless you are actively checking every AI every turn with proposals, having the AI be the one to bring up that a specific trade/pact is possible is a huge saver in terms of micromanagement.

ISTR the AI also contacts you to suggest a Declaration of Friendship, to let you know about various diplomatic interactions, and to ask you for stuff. And to denounce you.

@goodgimp If you are not playing against other players then you are not playing MP so this conversation would be pointless.

@istry555 I had mixed games in mind, which is what we do over here usually, when writing the above post.
Defensive pacts are one thing that you may be right about, but anyhow they don't offer that in SP either.
Research agreements: They will always accept if you offer a RA unless they are hostile etc
I don't think there is anything else at the moment that the AI offers in SP and is not possible to get in MP.
Remember that in SP the AI never makes a 1 to 1 trading offer so why would you expect that in MP?

@ SamBC The AI will accept DOF in MP, test that and you will see that it works fine. What other diplomatic interactions? All diplomatic modifiers work normally in MP and you can see what the AI thinks just by hovering the mouse pointer over their names on the diplomacy list exactly as in SP e.g. you made a declaration of friendship with our enemies etc

That's interesting. So I have a friend or two in my game, we're actively playing together, but this is not multiplayer? Amazing! Multiplayer consists of more than competitive multiplayer. By that logic, Diablo 3 is also not a multiplayer game when playing with your friends?

But, even if offered trades are always the same as proposed trades, there's still the micromanagement issue. The AI won't offer/accept the same trade every turn. Unless you're checking every AI every turn it's entirely possible you will miss a trade that would be advantageous to you because you didn't realize you could propose it. Now, I'm not saying that the AI in SP always proposes trades that it can do, but the number of times it does vs. the zero of current MP, does shift how the game is played with AI slots.

In SP, the AI comes to you and asks for DoF.

Ok the AI comes to you for DoF, RAs and open borders. In SP anyway when you have sufficient funds you have go and check the AIs for signing a RA so the difference in gameplay is rather small there. Also when you discover writing usually you have to check the AIs and sell any available open borders and then you renew when the deal is done, again quite similar gameplay (you might have to check more often on MP but the number of AIs will be smaller anyway). Though I have to accept that you have to ask for DoFs and there the gameplay is different. It doesn't bother me so much as the lack of other things on MP.
