civ 5 still can not play after months

Had to reload civ 5 due to hard drive crash. I now have a new hard drive and steam will not let me reload:. support is no support. My civ is a retail version, I have the disk and cd key, yes bought it new (retail price); I have sent steam the jpg to make them happy. The are more interested in making sure I own it than helping me. HELP

Have you ever been able to play Civ 5 on your machine (with the previous hard drive)?

Maybe OP realises that Forums aren't a realtime communication medium, and he's not hovering over his F5 button. Cut him some slack... if it was me, I'd be waiting a day to check for replies too

I know, I'm just giving him a hard time...I guess that I'll have to allow him to know me better before I give him a hard time?

Hehehe, hey don't get me wrong, sometimes giving someone a hard time is a worthwhile exercise.

I'm not really sure what your problem is from your description. The fact that you bought it retail is irrelevant. Once you installed it you connected that cd-key to a Steam account. Once you did that what computer you play it on is also irrelevant, as you can just log into your Steam account.

So, can you log into your Steam account? If so, does Civ V appear in your game's list. If not, the only real explanation is you're not logging into the same Steam account that you registered Civ V to as your account details aren't saved locally and so has nothing to do with the hard drive crash.

Yes, I find it quite enjoyable...as long as I'm not or appear to be condescending...my family likes me better that way...

It is not clear what your problem is. It's not possible to give you any help with the few information you provided.

Without knowing more about the original poster's situation, this seems like the most likely explanation to me. Has the original poster tried password recovery?

    Here is Curt's Issue

Thanks for the information; however I have to disagree about reinstalling CIV V. I have had a hard drive crash. After installing new hardware Steam will not let me reinstall my game. It keeps telling me this CD key is already used and kicks me off. My CIV V is a retail pack, (yep bought it new from Best Buy) and this issue has been going on now for months. I have a game I really want to play, and it sits on my desk.

I have been a CIV fan for years, from the very first issue. My last post to the support line was a little short, guess I am loosing my patience.

I hope you can help as the Steam Support does not seem to be listening.

    Curt

He cant be helped, because he doesn't want to be.

I just thought you needed your username and password and thats it. I thought you could install from multiple computers but only play one at a time. So having a new hard drive, I didn't think this would be a problem since you just have to re install it again with your account.

So I am not sure how to rectify the problem. Sorry.
