This place is pretty dead. Even the crickets have packed their bags and left.
Did alot of the IG users have too much trouble/bother getting their user accounts to work (and maybe the defaults making it look like all the threads were gone) or are they just tired of talking about something that keeps moving further away from them ???
I think the fact that the release date got pushed back along with the announcement that there wouldn't be much forthcoming press on the game for some time put a serious damper on discussion. There simply isn't a whole lot to talk about at this point.
^^^ This with perhaps the merger contributing a little. All the information out there has been discussed already to a large extent and with the announcement of nothing being shown/revealed in the coming trade shows their is no use to even speculate what might be shown. Then factor that it no longer is coming out this Fall/Holiday season doesn't help matters. I expect/hope things will pickup once new information is revealed and users from the old I.G forums and users who have been on here discussing Infinite will then come back to talk about it.Originally Posted by IllusionOfLife

That is kinda what happened to me...This is very different from the IG forums, but I think I'm starting to get the hold of it.
Since we probably only gonna hear about the game in the end of the year...discussions topics is gonna be really hard..but there is always gonna have some people to say crazy statements, like "censorship in the trailers..." and stuff like that.
Possibly not the place to ask this but oh well - does anyone know if/where the old Irrational Elite threads have been put on this forum?
I think they're toast. Which, if true, would be rather silly as they were more active than the Legacy forums that were brought over. When the Infinite section was crawling we could always go to the Elite section and Off Topic but as far as I can tell neither of those forums were brought over, not even as an archive. We could always start again but...it just seems kinda pointless now...
The off topic threads did transfer over to 2k's off topic section. 2k has a separate section to talk about other video games, so while our game related threads went into their off topic section, I have moved a bunch of game specific threads into the Video Games and Tech section of the forums. Their willbe a temp redirect for a week in the off topic section.
As far as the Irrational Elite section of the forums, I used the search function to find haterade and came up empty, so unfortunately I think those threads are lost which is indeed too bad. I think the most popular threads that existed there could be restarted if you guys desired for that too happen.
Glad you made it to the new forums, can you talk about what type of trouble you ran into. Their might be a few more people having the same problem, and any way you can elaborate would be great and how you finally were able to post.

@felonious - thanks man. Yeah I tried accessing my account here when I was redirected from the Irrational Forum. I could see from looking at the forums that my account had been transferred over but when I tried getting onto it, I couldn't. I was told to reset my password but every time I filled in the online form it kept saying that email address I was using was invalid (which is complete rubbish because it's the one I use every day). Finally got a new password posted through on the fifth attempt yesterday.
On a side note, sorry to be a whiner but this place sucks in comparison to the old Irrational Forum. It's boring to look at (like every other uninspired forum on the web) and it's completely unwieldy - I have no idea where anything is. The reason I joined Irrational and not 2K is because the former was more relevant to my interests. We had a good thing going there. Not liking this one bit.
Thumbs up for.... oh, nevermind. Would have to agree tho, admittedly it will get easier as you learn where certain threads are, but still just not a big fan of this place.
And it is a shame the elite threads just got tossed, had some good stuff in there
@felonious, ah, this whole time I was looking in "Bioshock Off-Topic". I also will miss the elite threads, the concept of the elite board separated from access by newbs and the general less cramped feeling of the IG forums. I'm already down to visiting once a day from my usual after-meetings check-in. Actually, even though it was completely pointless, one of the things I miss the most is the thumbs up / down feature. Now if think a post sucks I have to either swallow it or tell the poster.
@laforza, yeah I miss the thumbs up/down feature as well, can no longer just thumb down and ignore rather you have no other way to express yourself except for interjecting yourself in the thread. Their is at least a rate this thread feature at the top of the first post. Should see it there and can rate a thread 1-5 stars.
As I said before, I think everyone should give themselves like 2 weeks to get used to the forums and then pass judgement then on how active you willbe. While we may not have much Infinite information to talk too, their is off topic conversations to keep ourselves occupied.
Sorry to hear the transition wasn't so smooth for you, precipice. As for navigating this site, what are you looking for? Almost all of the IG forum topics were preserved, AFAIK. If anything, you have a few more choices as far as OT stuff and when talking about the older BioShock games.
All of the IG-specific stuff (announcements, podcast talk, legacy games, etc) is still under Irrational Games Discussion and Official Annoucements. BioShock Infinite General Game Discussion was ported over wholesale, so no changes there, either. The old BioShock section was replaced with a bunch of more specific topics, so you can narrow your discussion a bit (BS General Game, BS In-Game, BS2 In-Game, etc). And the old OT section is split up, depending on how you look at it, into 3 different areas to better target what you want to discuss (BS Off-Topic, Video Games and Tech, and Off-Topic Discussion). They get more general as you go. One is for discussing stuff that reminds you of BioShock but isn't technically from IG or 2K, one is for all other games, and the last is a catch-all. The only thing we truly lost was the Elite section, which was technically another OT segregated from the newest members by post count.
I know IG and 2K both want to create a space that the fans enjoy. If some aspect of the navigation could be improved, or if a section is missing, let them know. I also strongly encourage people to experiment with the Search and profile tools here. For example, look at your own profile (or someone else's that you typically follow) and "view posts". Then you can see where your older posts were relocated. And the Search tool is worlds better. I found the search results on the old site to be poor at best. The Search here is both more powerful, more accurate, and easier to customize. Who knows? You might find older discussions here that pique your interest.
I'm sure it'll be more fun with me around again.
With the game delayed and people having to setup their new passwords many probably just said 'meh' and skipped out.
Did the company say they werent going to do any more trailers/interviews and such because people might come back for those...
I think once the dust settles, people will feel it is safe to crawl out from their rocks
If anything its now gotten even deader....
They dumped all the trailers and heavyhitter stuff and announced the delay and then it all went dead.
SO I wonder if that picks back up after a 4 month gap in their original schedule or that was pretty much it and then they would start playing up preview reviews by game magazines and such
I'm not very hopeful...Ken was very clear when he said that we will only hear back from the game when it is ready...so I'm not specting to see anything untill the end of the year...a real bummer.
Well Ken said the game wouldn't be shown at E3 or Gamescom, that doesn't mean we won't be getting new information about the game during the summer, perhaps more information on the weapon/inventory system, vigors, and stuff along those lines could be released. Expect a summer vacation of major media footage.
Was there one of the big platforms they hadnt intended to release the game for?
If they got a directive from 'on high' to delay it for better marketing scheduling (avoiding overlapping other game releases as speculated) is it possible to do another port to an additional platform in the extra time (considering it may have been something they already planned for 'later' and so had alot of preliminary work done).
I seriously doubt it's another platform. The more likely scenario is that they have plenty of time before release and continuing a PR push would be inefficient considering the momentum behind the various titles releasing before the end of the year.
Everyone knows about BSI, which is the main goal. Done and done. Now they should wait and build up excitement for it just prior to release. Drop a few minor news items hear and there, but hold back on the big push until just after the big holiday releases.
I sincerely hope so..This E3 without B:I was not even half as fun/exciting as the E3 from last year.But at the same time, I'm feeling that I already know enough about the game, so maybe a period o relative quiet could be good.One final big push would be good, after all, the spring is becoming increasingly crowded with games.(very good ones by the way).
