Thread: Still 3500 active players?

    Still 3500 active players?

So I know that you get a time out reset on the H2H boards if you don't play for two weeks. There are currently 790 players listed there.

Is it the same on the FFA boards? Because I was surprised to see that there are currently nearly 3500 players listed.

I know the teams one doesn't reset because there are players on it I haven't seen for a very long time.

    Just wondering, 3500 seems high?

You have to realize a lot of those players are multiple accounts.

Yea there has always been players playing on multi accounts. Including myself a couple of years ago. If I play now it would just be on my Jack0oneill account.

Yes I have 2 accounts listed myself at the moment, but it's still a high number for a 4 yer old game I think.

Even if half the players are using 2 accounts that would still be 2300 players or do you think its less?

Yea you're right, this game is still going insane. Nearly 4 years on for a MP game, that is pretty remarkable.

Xbox players are like American. They think that everything outside isn't important. You never mentionned the PS3 players. The thread would then have been ''Still 3510 active players?''

haha nice one SVPM, but even on the ps3 i almost never have to wait on a h2h game. FFA/Group is pretty much dead though, but h2h is fast at any time of the day, even on the ps3

Doesn't it cost money to have multiple accounts? Do you really think half of them are multiples?

haha hey we have a couple of hundred thousand players on our list dont we? somthing like that...
Interestingly - even that - compared to the sales data - implies that most people who bought the game didnt even play a ranked game ever... weird...

Yes, it does. I've never understood why people have so many accounts on xbox. I have only ever had one. I mean, it's not a great deal of money, but the whole reason I pay for my xbl gold membership is so I can play online. Paying extra doesn't let me play online any more than all I want/am able to.

Hmmm...I know people do but this is mainly the boosters and people who have an extra/leftover account from a family plan. Most people I know either cant afford or arent willing to pay for two accounts. Id estimate only 10% of the players max out of the 3500 are double accounts.

Nah I disagree.....he doesnt even play ps3 so how would he know how many active players yall have....its up to a ps3 player to point that out....ps3 players never post in xbox tourney threads usually and vice versa so I think its the same. Also, I thought you guys had said that ps3 leaderboards never get reset.....so if it shows 3510 players...haha.......I just got it....that was a joke.... 3500xbox players plus 10 ps3 players.....haha...that is funny.....and its even funnier that it went right over my head at first

Yes it does cost and no I don't think as many as half have multiple accounts, I was just making a point that even if half do its still a lot of players.

I cannot speak for anyone else, but we have a family account with 3 gold memberships (I think it might even give you 4) on 2 xbox. My own account and 1 each for kids. This costs just 50% more than a single account.

I really need to stop using my kids account though because there are too many idiots will send offensive messages for nothing. But I did like using one for 'ranking up' and another for just playing mongols etc. Anyway, it was just my own personal mission to see if I could get top 10. Reality is it's not that hard using good but not power civs. But I enjoyed the game more when I didn't care about waiting out freezes etc.

I talked of this a angry thread of mine to the developers of Civ Rev. On a day I play 10 games of more of civ... I see in the FFA lobby out of 40 players, 22 new players each dang time. On average I play civ 5 to 6 times a week for pretty much the past 3 and half years with probably 4 big breaks. I see constantly someone new playing. If I never got reset in FFA I probably be in the top 5 in games played wins and losses. I have seen plenty of players come and go. People rent civ and buy it outright and with gamestop out here being the major video game store and there ability to buy back games to sell them, civ rev easily has been in the hands of many players and that's not even counting those that never play online.
