Inactive posts are recycled after some time?

I'm sorry to create this, so once my interrogation has been answered, feel free to erase it after a while. Perhaps it will get us newbies acquainted with the specific rules that take place in 2K's forums...

Anyways here it is: in this IG forum, now part of the larger 2K forum, is it common that after a couple of hours/days a thread which has few posts gets erased.
A brief example, a few days ago watchman put one under the name "another enemy idea", this one got like 3 posts in all. And today here I come and find nothing like it's never been here before... Same thing with two or three other threads that collected many more replies.
So is it a moderator's doing that after some definite time a thread no longer appears? Or was its contents unauthorized? I just wanna understand as since the migration took place, the place feels emptier than before...

Edit: shame on me and here again I didn't look hard enough. You've got a show threads option that accounts for the number of days, weeks you want threads to show up so this is something you have to set up so that things that seem lost suddenly reappear ^^""

Those threads are still here, for some reason the default forum setting in this area is set to show only threads which have been active within a day. You can change that setting yourself at the bottom of the forum page everytime you visit or I suggest going into general settings and change your default from the forum setting to showing everything from the beginning.

Thanks felonious, but won't it be an increasing risk for people unaware of this? By this will there be more people posting threads that already exist somewhere?

Yes its not done on purpose it is a known issue that the Admins have been made aware of, as far ETA on when it will be fixed. No idea but the best bet is to solve the problem in your own general settings, and hopefully newly migrated users will see this thread and think that this forum is barren of threads.

  5. Yeah I really don't like that the default only shows threads commented on in the last day. When I first went on the forum I was really shocked that there were like 7 threads and I tried to see if there were more pages. Then after like a day I found that you can change the number of threads shown can be changed.

I spotted that almost immediately (and then was reminded by having to set it every time I logged in -- I recall going to find it but it wasnt obvious and I got bored).

It might be worth having a sticky " >>>> SET YOUR FORUM SETTINGS <<<<" in the Bioshock Forums to make it obvious to people who just transfered :

Home | Settings | General Settings

Default Thread Age Cut Off: <<< SHow threads from last Month (or something like that)
Number of Posts to Show Per Page: <<<< 40
Thread Display Mode: <<< Linear - Oldest Page First

Oh and is there a option somewhere to keep the webpage from logging you out to only after a longer period? Ive been entering a long post here before or walking away for a few minutes and when I finally try to 'Save' the posting it gives me the login required sequence. At least this forum mechanism doesnt discard/lose your posting text in those circumstances like some Ive seen (which can lead to my swearing at the #$%^&*(@$%^&*$#@$%^&* dimwits who left the programming that way -- times I would like to slam their head against wall for such disrespect/negligence towards the users... (reflexes of the professional QA/customer advocate/programmer)

I just tested it and it restored text only from the last 'auto-save' which happened to be missing a line of text that I had just typed in before doing a 'save' --- but at least thats better than losing an entire text input.

Yeah, you click the "remember me" box or whatever under the login thing at the top of the page. If you're still having an issue after that, it's probably cookies.

I'm going to make some additional noise about this and shoot a few PM's to the admins. This is getting silly and I honestly don't get why this is happening.
