Making games for Mac. How many people own a Mac?

Literally every one of my friends has switched to Mac ( I mean literally literally )

I was the last of the people I know to switch to Mac.

The problem with mac I that it has no games.
The games on Mac that are worth playing are either by blizzard or valve and maybe a port of modern warfare 2.

So how many people out there have macs?
should game makers start making Mac versions again is is it a waste of money?

I have a Mac for a laptop but I don't play games on it or really ever intended too. I have no idea if Mac versions of games would be waste of money, I would think with so many Macs and how popular Apple is it wouldn't be.

I know plenty of people with macs, though most for business use.

If and when Mac market share creeps up enough to mean mac games get a simultaneous release I would happily buy one, but I think that's still a long way off, and will probably never happen.

We're moving more and more in that direction, but it'll be a slow process. Valve and Blizzard are both committed to simultaneous releases for Mac and PC and the window between the original release date and the Mac port is becoming more and more narrow for many games. Introducing Steam to the Mac was a major first step, but it will take more developers committed to simultaneous releases for Mac and PC in order to see any significant change in the industry.

Windows is what I know, and it's what game developers code for. When Mac catches up, then I'll switch.

Botanicula by http://amanita-design.net/ is not on Mac yet.

But there should be a market for them. Marathon (makers of Halo) and Myst (makers of Riven and being awesome) were exclusive to Mac, and those are very successful games. Of course this was the 90's so :?

Er… I have Botanicula for Mac. Granted it was with a recent Humble Bundle, but I'd imagine it should be available via some other method.

I looked again and it's on Mac. I'd get the bundle, but I bought those games separately.

The most annoying thing about the valve Mac games is that the hammer editor does not work on Mac.
I love the effects that can be created in the hl2 engine that is why I used it to present my final project in my architecture degree.

Also the crytrek editor and unreal Ed don't work on Mac either.

Mac's are just no good for people who want to play games or mess with gaming stuff.

I'll probably end up getting a Mac eventually, mostly for the video work and stuff I do.

I might play games on one, considering they are basically just packaged rigs with decent to pretty good specs. Good and easy. I'd probably just stick with a gaming PC though. It's cheaper and upgradeable. Macs have their place in the computer world though.

I think it's more about MMOs killing themselves, to be honest. WoW has gotten so obsessed with the hardcore raiding game there's nothing else left. SWTOR has been, unfortunately, riding a downhill slide lately. It's not about another game drawing people away from MMOs, because people look for different things from an MMO. It's about MMOs themselves no longer innovating, and no longer being fun. casquette ymcmb casquette tisa nike tn requin pas cher
