Thumbs down this game is poo

nut said. it "cheats" on deity its just stupid. i can have a unit that has twice the defense as the attack of the cpu and it will instantly win. thats BS fix the game... difficulty schouldnt make the enemies impossible to beat in combat. exspecaly when it makes all the other civs attack you on the same turn...

LOL. When u say "instantly" i assume u mean "all the time". I find it hard to believe that you always lose when u have 2 to 1 odds. No one is that unlucky. The thing i hate about deity is how the AI can just teleport armies across map. I mean, i still easily always win but it kinda ruins the whole "turn-based strategy" concept.

haha it is like quantum mechanics - the AI units have no definite position until you can see them

The only civ I found hard to play on deity on was the Mongols, other than that I think its easy...

I felt the same way in the beginning. And yes, the AI on deity is cheating. That is how they increase difficulty. Easier than creating a smart AI. I also think that the AI on deity pulls out more upsets besides all the other crap (teleporting units, endless armies off a galley, etc.)

But now to you :-) If you know that the AI tends to win lopsided battles, you should prepare for it. Either put more defense in your city (bad choice) or build counter armies to kill the AI's attack force (much better choice). Or even better: Bring the battle to the AI and be aggressive. If you take away their room for expansion, they are harmless.

I know it is easy to fall into the "I am great at this game but the AI is cheating that's why I can't win" trap. It just means that you still have ways to go to understand and master civ rev. It takes effort and a lot of time to learn, but believe me, it is worth it. Deity will seem like child's play once you get the hang of basic Civ Rev concepts. But you gotta be willing to read some stuff on here and practice. The real fun is in Multiplayer. Beat deity with each civ and then venture online. You are going to realize that you know nothing about the game :-)

I had also heard that the AI teleports because it takes much less memory to teleport the armies than it does for the game the manually track every AI army.

I also thought the AI telelports on all levels, but that it is far more noticable on Deity due to the AI's production bonus.

Deity is supposed to be difficult. For many here, it isn't. If you really want to see something rough, check it out on GOTW.

I should add that the game works on a seeding system. Saving the game before a battle and retrying the battle after you lost doesn't work; you'll lose it every single time (and vice versa).

I noticed the AI seems to win lopsided against odds battles a whole lot more on deity gotw than on a normal deity game. One reason i got sick of playing gotw.

I didn't get that impression - in fact i had an impresion that I was surprisingly lucky in GOTW.
On the other hand maybe I am just a bit of an optimist when playing GOTW.

For others - I have a theory that one might retry battles you loose and not ones that you win and be more likely to get the same result (by not tweaking the right things) and so in practive loose more often than win.

Well, tbh, i only played GOTW maybe a half-dozen times before getting tired of it. One reason, i kept getting PO'ed that someone would invite me to a game and i'd accidentally accept just when i was almost finished with game. In fact, i think i only ever actually finished 1 game out of 5 or 6. Other reason is cause of all the unusually high number of unlucky battles i had of at least 2-1 odds and a lot were 3-1 odds. Like a pikeman kicking my bomber out of sky, for instance, LoL. Lost count how many times that happened.

A pikeman has three HP. A bomber only one. So if you fight a fully fortified pikeman in cap vs a bomber. There is some likely odds that the bomber would lose one of those three fights.

True, but that's just 1 example. I've also lost several 3-1 odds battles with tanks in gotw as well.
