Hi all,
Up until yesterday I was really really excited to become a player of Civ V from all of the reviews and videos I had watched - Until I saw there were problems with the chipset I'm running on. I currently am using a MacBook Pro (December 2011) running on an Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB, with 8 gigs of memory and a 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 processor. I also own a personally customized Dell Studio 1555 that I have had for four years and still runs as fast as ever. I'd like to continue using my Dell though for school work and continue using my MacBook for personal use, reasons for wanting Civ V on my Mac.
I had hopes after seeing Civ V in the App Store that I would purchase it after my finals week ended, and yesterday once I got home I started to do some research to make sure my Mac met the requirements to run the game... Unfortunately, I found that many people were having issues with the Intel HD 3000 chipset and Aspyr was working with Apple to fix the problems with the chipset.
Basically, from what I've seen is that on the Apple App Store it states that the Intel HD Graphics 3000 chipset is not supported, but on Steams website it says that the Intel HD 3000 is supported....
My question is, has anyone had any success with Civ V on this chipset? And which source do I really believe?
