I'm finding it hard to get back into Civ V

I've played the game (According to Steam) for 806 hours. For some reason I can't go too far into the game without getting bored around the medieval-renaissance era. Maybe it's the anticipation of the expansion, or I'm too low on the difficulty (Prince). Any suggestions that could help me get back into the game?

Well, you may try to enspeed pace of the game and maybe raise diffculty (but I'm get bored too). Also, going to try other map types (like islands for example).

I think its the mid game transition from exploring/building/growth to maintenerance plus happiness/gold management that gets boring for many. I stepped up to King and found it a bit more exciting with a more agressvie AI for longer into the game. I go random everything, take what I get for my civ and maps and go OCC sometimes just for yucks, regardless of who I am and what map it is. For me variety keeps it interesting as I change up game play game to game just to see what happens.

Yeah prince can be kind of lame since the AI plays so bad they need a little head start. I find king or emperor to be a nice happy medium. Slightly more challenging but not frustratingly so. If I feel the setup will give my civ the advantage I'll go emperor if I don't think I have any specific advantage I'll usually go king. Prince is just too easy for the game to be entertaining.
