I'm wondering if it's a common thing around here that we both can't see the other users' avatars and put one that is fitting the requirements in our personal settings section. Is it the result of the recent merging or someting else entirely?

It looks like the Irrational accounts that were transferred over here lost their avatars in the process. I'd try re-uploading it and see if that fixes your problem.
Seems over here there is a profile picture as well as an avatar although I've only figured out how to upload one. Every now and again I'll see member avatars displayed but for the most part I don't without clicking on their profile. This is both in and outside of the Irrational subset of the forum. I've also noticed that it mentions BBC code but while tags such as the one we used to use post images register in the system (the tags disappear in the post and reappear when editing) all that shows up is a clickable image link.
Here's a quick Avatar Tutorial for those of you having trouble:
Step 1
From the home page (or any page on the forums, click the "Settings" button in the top right corner of the page.
Step 2
From the Settings page click the option under "My Settings" that says "Edit Avatar" (NOTE: If you want to change your profile picture, which is only displayed on your profile page, not in forum posts, select the "Edit Profile Picture" option)
Step 3
On the Edit Avatar page sleet the "Use Custom Avatar" option. You then have two choices:
1) Providing a direct URL to an image on another website, or
2) Uploading an image from your computer.
In either case the image can't be larger than 80x80 pixels or 19.5 KB
Hope that helps![]()
Thanks for the tuto, it works now though I did exactly the same thing yesterday without success. Cheers!
And as Laforza said it, I'm unable to see everyone's avatar like we used to when we were in the old forum. By this I mean next to your user name when someone's posting etc. we don't see the pics that made us immediately recognizable. So it feels rather impersonal in here without them...

Go to Settings. Click on "General Settings". Scroll down to "Thread Display Options" and check "Show Avatars".![]()
Hey my mistake and thank you guys! Now I just feel a little dumber for not seeing this feature sooner... Anyways I'm glad to find the usual crowd and mods in here ^^
Yeah as laforza said, no reason to feel dumber. Their are many options that are defaulted into the NO setting which you would think would probably be a yes. That being said its good this topic sprung up as it also points to all the various other settings to find out there. Whether it be a how many posts displayed per page, who can send you a private message, whether something will trigger an email alert or not. Their is all sorts of goodies that someone who transitioned over will probably need some time to check out. Also edited your thread title losstarot to show it encompasses other information about the settings for the forums, hopefully more original I.G members will check it out!
One last thing to state I know coming here from I.G website, took me a few minutes to realize it immediately sends you to just the I.G subsection of the 2k forums which is good. To all those who read this and maybe confused just click on the forum link near the top of the page to bring up all the boards and which shows all the Bioshock sections of the forum.
I'm pretty sure I lost shocker22. If you had the same email for both accounts (assuming you had a 2k account already) it defaults to 2ks. opps.
I'll echo the "don't feel dumb" comments. I, too, rely on some of the more forum-savvy users to point out certain features, even though I've been on the 2K site for years. There are tons of little options and tricks to explore.
And since embedded images were mentioned, let me add that the permissions for certain features (like images) are handled on a subforum by subforum basis. So even if you have "show images" checked in your settings, certain sections of the forums may still only show the image link rather than the image itself. This typically happens when a lot of nasty images are being posted in certain sections. I didn't want anyone to think that their setting was broken when they can see images in one game's subsection but not in another game's subsection.![]()
