I wasn't exactly sure of what to expect going to see it. I haven't been up on comics as much as I should, and I also missed out on the Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America movies. So, yes, my credibility might be halfway out the window, but I'll be damned if I wasn't entertained watching this movie.

The story didn't blow my mind, but what did was the fun factor. Some great jokes, some incredible action, awesome performances, and a great musical score. Thumbs up if you ask me, how bout you guys??

I'm in a similar boat. Mind wasn't blown but I was entertained. I find that it is really overhyped though when people who can't list the Avengers are asking me if I'm going to see it but it was fun.

My favorite is, "Hey, why isn't Batman in it?"

Problem is, I don't see how they can make an Iron Man 3 now without the rest of the team assisting Tony. What are they gonna say? "Nah, he's got this one"

Was also curious why they felt they needed Banner in the end battle if Thor was able to go hand to hand with him after he dropped his hammer on the helicarrier.

The film was interesting and fun.But not mindblower as so many stated.I personally was more impress with "Iron Man 2".This could be a very good year in super-hero movies...The Avengers, Batman and Spider-Man.

It's definitely a solid summer for comic book fans. I wouldn't consider myself a Joss Whedon "superfan" (love Firefly, but that's about it) but I think he knocked it out of the park. The audience in my theater was either laughing at a joke or cheering at the action. It would have been really easy to have it be a big mess, and the fact that people who don't even read comics love it is a testament to how good it was.

I liked it haha I saw it once with my friend and then my family wanted to see it. I especially liked how Captain America told Stark that there was always a way out for him. Then at the end he was intending on having no way out when he went through the portal. It touched my heart.

I pretty much echo 1019ice's comments (except I'm a bit more of a Whedon fan--Buffy and Firefly are tops). As a comic nerd myself, I don't think I've ever used "mindblowing" when describing a superhero film. That's not what they're about, IMHO. They're about adventure and fun. And Avengers had that in spades. No dreary bits, no emo wallowing--just pedal-to-the-metal fun!

I have to see it again just to hear all the lines. Some of the laughs were so big that they covered up subsequent dialogue.

Japester, 1019ce, you guys nailed it. In fact, I take back my phrase about whether my mind was blown or not. The Avengers promised of everything being good old fashioned fun, and it was executed wonderfully.

I'd really like to post about some of the jokes in the movie, but I don't want to spoil anything. The movie was definitely LOADS funnier than I was expecting!

Nothing much to add really. Fun movie. Funny moments - Hulk/Thor springs to mind - I won't say more than that. Still, like just about every superhero movie released in the past decade, there seems to be too much emphasis on flashy effects and not enough on story. Though that affliction is rife throughout the Action Movie Genre at the moment.

With Avengers specifically, I think they assumed (wrongly) that everyone has seen Thor - beyond what I know from Nordic mythology (and Stargate) I had no idea who Loki was and those freaky alien dudes of his were completely one dimensional. There was basically nothing interesting about them. They were just cannon fodder and little more.

Saw the movie over the weekend, fun flick to watch. The Hulk def had some great moments. Wondering what their going to do with Thanos in the next one, the Infinity Gauntlet was one of my favorite comic book series to read.

    I freakin' loved it.

    Seriously.

    I LOVED IT.

One of my favorite superhero flicks of all time, for sure. Just an awesome experience. I love all the characters dearly. writer/director Joss Whedon is my mancrush. <333333333333

I should also mention that I went to the midnight showing. I cosplayed as Thor, as can be seen in my avatar actually. Some buddies of mine also went as Cap, Hawkeye and Nick Fury. It was awesome. AWESOME.

Great movie! I liked Thor, I liked Iron Man.. but I LOVED The Avengers. Glad they gave it to Whedon, he did not disappoint.

I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir here, but this editorial is worth a look:

Marvel Needs to Re-Hire Joss Whedon for THE AVENGERS 2
