Here is an 8 x 10 inch Bioshock Infinite poster I illustrated for an Irrational member who went to PAX East this month. It features my version of the character Zachary Comstock from The Founders. It was drawn in pen and ink, then painted with an acrylic wash. This is my gamer version of the Uncle Sam "I Want You" painting. Scanned into Photoshop to add the text and outside borders. If you were at PAX, you may have gotten handed this flyer. Here are the steps I took:

Definitely fantasyland as no American ever coop'd Uncle Sam imagery by incorporating their own portrtait. Even with all the hard propaganda over the years, that would not fly with the American people and the politcos knew that very well (even Stalin never put his own face on a flag).

Do me a massive favor, stop posting on my art thread. No one wants to read comments that do not pertain to the original topic. Go write a high school essay if you want to flex your nerd muscles. And if you want to post randomly about Americana and politics, go join a separate forum. This is art. I am the artist. Unless you have art to post, shut it. You've just earned yourself the GFY award for posting useless comments in other peoples' threads. You can come pick up your award and share your thoughts with me in person. I don't think you'd have too many smart ass comments then.

Artists, always so tempermental. Thick skin is you best friend if you seek being an artist as a profession (or even a hobby that you try to show your stuff to other people).

BTW, this is a 'public forum' nobody actually 'owns' what is written here. Its also a matter of opinion that what I posted is 'off topic' (another thing to get used to in the 'artist' biz is that EVERYONE has their own opinion despite what you might assume).

This kind of propaganda would be "The Founders want YOU" and Comstock might be there with Lady Liberty on one side and Uncle Sam on the other. It never got personalized like what you portray, as Americans would see "Comstock declaring himself as Uncle Sam" as self-serving/egomaniacal/narcissistic.

Unless of course, Zachary Hale Comstock is a self-serving egomaniacal narcissist. He already has posters of himself presented as the hero of the "Battle" of Wounded Knee.

Which is why I used the term 'fantasyland' - as even for a caricature of American far right it is rediculous, and what Americans would not allow. It would be more a representation of the other sides propaganda pointing at their opponent as such.

"hero of the "Battle" of Wounded Knee." is actually something different, as that is at least a specific event (no matter how tenuous) and bringing up a personal military record was quite common for a political campaign.

Actually, this is a private forum run by Irrational Games. It is not a public space. IG makes the rules.

As one of their moderators, I get to decide if what you posted is off-topic. And we both know it was, you troll. May I make a suggestion? Perhaps at least one person on this forum would believe all your shameless self-promotion if you reigned in your frustrations and stopped crapping in nearly every thread you come across. Showing others a modicum of respect might engender them to return the favor.

To some people 'troll' is a term aimed at people they just dont like the opinions of. Easily made and basicly valueless on internet forums from regular misuse.

On the other hand "argumentum ad hominem" attacks on other posters is supposedly against the forum rules -- assumingly also for moderators.

My comments were about propaganda posters and how the initial picture doesnt match even a caricature of turn of the century reality (something they supposedly are attempting in this game) .

And the guy still looks like Ricardo Montalbán which makes it human enough looking which is more than you can say for most peoples art abilities.

If you feel I've broken the rules, please feel free to take it up with IG.Ratana.

I figure that calling you a troll once is more than fair considering how many times you've treated your fellow forum members disrespectfully, made off-topic comments, intentionally flame-baited others, and spammed the site with insulting comments about the IG staff and their games.

If you want to debate this some more, PM me. Or PM Ratana to complain about it. We've cluttered this art thread with enough off-topic comments.

Ive already msg'd the company rep to look at ALL my posts instead of just your comments.

I'll consider mentioning your 'ad hominem" postings (I could care less about being called a 'troll' as that accusation is thrown around incessantly by people who dont like other peoples opinions.)

I suggest you start enumerating these "treated your fellow forum members disrespectfully" and 'flame-baiting' incidents for review (and sorry, expressing differing opinions is not 'disrespect' in most forum moderators book). And if you are deciding now to start enforcing the 'off-topic comments' "rule" then you had best get very busy doing so to a myriad of other posters.

Oh and I havent been expressing any 'professional opinions about faulty software' lately, so if you can find any Ive made in the last couple of months, I would like to see them.
