It performs well, pushing my computer to its limits but not dangerously so. I've got it running at Very High on most settings, and plain High on the rest. Don't have any framerates to post yet, but I'll get those later.
The game itself, though... it doesn't feel like Max Payne to me. Before, I could charge through the levels and take brief breaks from the action to down some painkillers. Here, I have to shoot the enemies about a dozen damn times to kill them and Bullet Time isn't a viable option because the mouse sensitivity is reduced so badly you can hardly aim, and there are hardly any damned painkillers in sight so you have to go out of your way to preserve health. They also changed the control scheme ever so slightly from the original two, which is causing me much frustration. They can be modified, but I haven't tinkered with them yet.
The cutscenes are well-made, but too frequent and too long. The intro and first cutscene, I didn't mind. They introduced the plot, which is necessary. When you are forced to watch a cutscene like that every ten seconds, though, it goes from entertaining to irritating. I get the feeling that they put so many in purely for avoiding loading screens. They wanted to make the game feel like a movie, and inadvertently turned it into one in the process.
I've played very little of the game so far (I'm in the nightclub), but at this point I am not impressed. I have heard good things about the multiplayer, so I'll give that a look in a minute, but I'm really hoping that's not the game's strong point. I haven't said anything that any of you didn't already know, but I honestly didn't think it would be this bad.
