As long, as EA owns the rights to SS series, there will not be any sequels. Yet not everything is done, there can still be created an rpg, scary cyberpunk game.

    My idea:

After the north pole revealed its richness, many countries claimed their rights to this area. China, as a growing empire, noticed their chance to expand their territory, and put their hand on the north pole. They invaded weakened Russia, taking the whole east coast. Chinese forces weren't however prepared for such hard winter, a pact has been signatured.

Short conflict, that took place was ended leaving both countries unsatisfied. China didn't make it to the north coast, which left them without the possibility to claim their rights to the north pole. Russia lost their whole east coast. The situation forced both countries to strengthen their armies, a new Cold War started.

Russia took their lesson, they realized, that if they want to win with chinese hordes of soldiers, they need an army equipped with an advanced technology. They have made a few top secret hi tech self-sufficient facilities, placed somewhere deep in Syberia.

Each facility has been placed underground and involves:

-particle accelerator with a particle lab complex

    -genetic lab complex

    -hydroponics

    -nanotech lab complex

    -small nuclear power plant

    -crew quarters complex

    -rails connecting all complexes

To synchronize their work, there has been made a powerfull computer called Tzar.

Unfortunately in one of the facilities a sabotage took place. Tzar has been hacked, but something went wrong. It killed almost the whole crew, and having control over the whole facility, it started to create an army of robots and cyborgs, in the same time, experimenting with genetics.

RPG mechanics - inventory; combining some things to get something better for example Iron oxide and aluminium to get a thermite (grenades that can be sticked to an enemy) useful to destroy robots; agility, strength, endurance and skills for guns, tech, hacking, researching and psi abilities.

Notes with passwords, instructions, recipes for some usefull things like mentioned thermite...

Weapons degrading, modify-friendly. Pistol, Shotgun, grenades, thermite grenades, machine gun... and some usefull stuff that can be found in the labs - Antimatter Gun which shoots a small amount of antimatter, that explodes when contacted with the matter in the annihillation process. Railgun....

Unfortunately I don't know anything about programming, so I can not do anything more than describing my vision, but even if it is bad, I believe such game can be made, and keep the mood of SS series.

Oh and some sci-fi RPG would be something freh today since even games called that aren't really rpg's in older fashion.

Can I found my own development studio and steal, erhm, I mean use, your idea?

Just kidding, I think it's brilliant, man, I wish there was a game like that. Full of conspiracies and all that stuff I love about games.

Personally I think that RPG's should have their moments of peace where you just can be there and stare at the environment and say: "This is gaming".

Although I don't know what environment you can see in the North Pole, unless they have a complete friendly environment in a giant bubble made.

I like the way you think! However, there are so many close similarities to SS2... would it be safe from EAs ravenous legal team? I would love to play something this close to SS2 though with better graphics, maybe on a console (Althought I can't imagine how SS2 could be played well on a console).

If you say that it's a spiritual successor from 'X' game, then it'll create some good PR for both games, people who knew the former game will want the new one, and people who are waiting the new one will want to know what the other was about!

Win-win! Although that would work if EA released SS1 and 2 on Steam and other DD services.

It sure is fun to think about.

It's a real shame that EA owns the rights to the older games. I'd love to see System Shock 1+2 remade on the new consoles.
