***SPOILER ALERT****BEWARE:SPOILERS DWELL BELOW****TREAD CAREFULLY IF YOU HAVE NOT PLAYED BIOSHOCK 2 OR MINERVAS DEN DLC****SPOILER ALERT***

I was wondering if anyone noticed this. If you have played the Minerva's Den DLC, then you know of the Lancer big daddies. Well I am playing through Bioshock 2 for the fourth time, and in Persephone, when playing as the Little Sister, in the room with Elanor''s cell, to the left of the door to Sofia's office, the statue of the Big Daddy, is a Lancer Big Daddy from Minerva's Den, which wasn't made until I think 8 months after bioshock 2. Just wondering if anyone noticed that....kinda cool...

No I never realized that, will have to go back when I got the time and check it out. The Lancer was probably cut from Bioshock 2 and then after more development time and fitting the story of Minerva's Den was put in, I'm guessing. Anyways-- good find.

Also, in the same level, when your a lil sis, you pick up an audio diary made by Elizabeth, called, Blessing in Disquise. In this audio Diary Elizabeth say's this, "The surface is my only chance at freedom, but Mother took the only person I knew from "above", and murdered him infront of my eye's. Father, if I could only find a way to bring him back."

UHHH ABOVE??? ABOVE??? ABOVE?!!? What does she mean by ABOVE???.....Could "Johnny Topside" be Elanor's Biological Father?

i noticed that statue since my first play through. i realized it was different but still looked like a big daddy.

There was supposed to be another type of big daddy called the Deco Big Daddy and i think thats what the statue is modeled from

I think what happened was that the "Lancer"-daddy was originally designed as part of a series of Big Daddy sketches that were scrapped at the last minute. These Big Daddy designs were suppossed to replace the regular Big Daddy designs for the Little Sister dream sequence so as to represent how the Sisters saw them (golden, proud and heroic).

Chances are the DLC team wanted to save time by reusing an older model (with slight tweaking).

Subject Delta is Johnny Topside, he came down in a diving bell and to appease Ryan who thought he was a spy, they messed with Delta's memories and changed his name erasing all record of him. Just happened to hear some of the audio diaries today.

Too late to add this to my old post but in terms of "did anyone notice", did anyone else find cats here and there? I found the first one in a frozen room in Dionysus Park after melting some ice. His name was Schrodinger after the famous setup with the scientist. I kept trying to fling him through one of the little sister holes for an Easter Egg but no dice haha. Found 2 or 3 more over Rapture.

I don't remember where I read it but Johnny Topside, aka subject Delta, is Elenaors biologicial father, Sofia Lamb took sperm from him (like from a sperm bank) to use, so no she did not sleep with him if that is what you meant.

A removed "Eleanor vision" that is still present in the game files reveals that (at one point) the developers had intended Subject Delta to be Eleanor's actual biological father. The file name is "VO_ABY_S_Bsis_Pairbond_03a". A second file shows they also planned to make it clear she was not Delta's daughter "VO_EDN_R_BSis_PlrPlyAsLS_13b"

So neither is necessarily true and neither is necessarily false. I prefer to view Delta as bonded to her through the Big Daddy relationship alone.

the lancer big daddy / deco art big daddy was actually in the making during the end of the production of bioshock 2, only that the statute made it to the game, while they saved the new big daddy for minervas den dlc. you can look at the concept art of these and compare dates

In an audio diary that was cut from the final game it tells of how Sophia purchased the rights to Johny Topside (Delta)'s DNA after he was imprisoned and that he was Elanor's biological father but as I said this was cut from the game

Yea I did, but was surprised they didn't put it into the actual Bioshock 2 game. I have the art deco book and towards the end it shows the Lancer Big Daddy.

Yup I replayed Minerva's Den a few days ago and it would have been better if they included them into the main story of 2nd.

Still this artwork of the most advanced Big Daddy to date is magnificent and their representation in game isn't that good looking (all those crustaceans on their armor like the whole place has been flooded -_-). Kinda wished he could be rocket propelled when berserk (not ŕ la Rocketeer lol) with his heavenly looks, *sigh* again one of those amazin things that were drawn, meant to appear and that never had proper treatment.

On another note I'd have wished for more various Big Daddies in that sequel, I mean only the Rumbler and the Lancer are newcomers while the rest is a reroll...

It's more of a recycled model for the DLC, just to add more characters in the gameplay and story. Most of the time, certain concepts or models are either rejected or not added in the game at the last minute.

They also did the same with the Rumbler, which was suppose to be in the first game as Slow Pro. Also, the Robotic Little Sisters in Minerva's Den were originally conceptualized from the first game's artbook. You can see that not ony is the skirt and hands similar to the original game's Little Sister, but the render is also like that of the first BioShock.

They probably had lots of alternate models and chose one for the lil sister happy place.

How do you know the cats name ??

The one cat in the frozen art gallery in Dionysus Park actually had a name on it :

    "Schrödinger"

Schrödinger's Cat was part of a quantum physics explanation and the posers in Lambs arty community were apparently showing their 'sophistication'

Ive seen a dozen dead cats elsewhere but no others had names.

Ive also seen empty dogfood cans in splicer camps, but no dead dogs anywhere.

Schrödinger's Cat doesn't beat the Pac-Man easter egg in the original game though

Not really that much to beat. Pile of ice (that you melt a bunch of these to see if there are any goodies in them) and theres a dead cat with a name on it. Its not like that cat starts to dance ballet from Swan Lake or anything.....

yea I noticed that there's a bunch of Lancer Big Daddys around the area when you're playing as a little sister. The Lancer Big Daddys where a consept that didn't make it into Bioshock 2 (at least that's what the art book says anyway). I guess maybe they didn't think the Lancers would make it into the series at all so they just made them decoration then put them into Minerva's Den seeing that they had the chance.

what kind of gets to me is that the art book says that the Lancer Big Daddys are how the Little Sisters see Big Daddys, so I wounder how they constructed them in Minerva's Den is it had been cut off from Rapture.

Maybe theres a 'Power to the People' machine somewhere that upgrades Big Daddies ???
