Thread: Which Plasmid to Use?

    Just a thread to post which plasmid and upgrades to plasmids you enjoyed using and which ones were useless.


    My favorite is wrench jokey, wrench lurker, and frozen field. Then go take down a big daddy with only the wrench, bouncers just to make it more fun.

    I'd have to pop in the game to remember half of the upgrades/tonic slots. Did you just play or do you just have a really good memory??

    Insect Swarm might be my favorite. It just makes you feel awesome to summon wasps and destroy your opponents.

    I agree, Inset Swarm rules, especaly when you use Insect Swarm 3 with Cyclone Trap.


    And correct me if i'm wrong but this thread is about plasmids not gene tonics (wrench jokey, wrench lurker, and frozen field)

    The Enrage plasmid is my FAV. I beat Big daddy w/ this plasmid w/ almost no life. I hid behind a counter top while he smashed himself dead against the wall.. I have to admit I was a bit emotional after.... heheh

    Incinerate! Burning people is fun!

    Electro Bolt! Taking over some bots is always a handy support!

    Winter Blast! Always good for those annoying little-sisters!

    I just stuck to the elemental plasmids like Cyro Shards, Incinerate, Electrobolt. Then throw in telekinesis and enrage and you had the ability to deal with pretty much any situation and the most flexibility in environment manipulation.

    my faveorite was insect swarm and incinerate. seeing the wasps crawl all over your arm in and out of the vein tunnels was bad also bio-S2 where you could see the hive's comb on his arm it pumps you up to release the swarm. i espeacially loved using insect swarm on a incinerated foe, dude is on fire and cant run to water cause of the swarms sting. incinerate is the best i may sound sadistic but you gotta love lighting them up whereas with electro-bolt they stand there stunned, kinesis just throwing stuff at them, winter blast a frozen hide ect. ect. cause seeing them lit a blaze screaming and running around is the best, then finishing them off with your revolver or your rivet gun its a thrill-fest for me

    Incinerate and Electro Bolt are most useful for me.

    i believe you could get through most of the game w/ just Electro-Bolt (w/ the progessive upgrades) and the Wrench (w/ wrench jockey,sportboost etc). it's a brutally effective combo but as for just having fun, Trap Bolts w/ Cyclone Traps under them is a lot of fun to watch unfold.....and if you want to get cute w/ multiple splicers in a hallway setting, set up 3 Trap/Cyclone traps w/ Proximity Mines inbetween them and watch the splicers bounce off the ceiling and floors all the way down the hallway. it's a riot ! ;o)

    All of the plasmids mentioned above are great, for myself i mostly used the incinerate, and the swarm alot in Bioshock1 and for Bioshock 2 it's the Summon Eleanor plasmid because it was new and different.

    ^...i avoid 'incinerate' because you never get any stuff off the corpses. it seems to burn away.

    Aww man, devious. I never really used Cyclone Trap, but I might have to now. ^_^


    Personally, Telekinesis is my favorite. Partly because you can use it without spending EVE, but mostly because of gas tanks and flammable barrels. Sonic Boom may have been the most fun to use, though, especially at higher levels. Nothing's more fun than sending three Spider Splicers hurtling down a corrdior into an uncomfortable death bent and broken in some harder to find corner.


    Also, using Incinerate to trick a Splicer into the water so you can Electrobolt them is so deeply satisfying. It never fails to make me laugh, and it's such a simple joy.

    Telekinesis is fun to use especially if enemy using projectile weaponry like grenades, but gotta say fav. combo is on bioshock 2 using winter blast with air dash and shattering almost everything, just flying through an enemy and watching them shatter makes you feel omnipotent XD

    Electro bolt and Insect swarm those were awesome for me i used them all the time and electric flesh of course.Most useless probably the telekenisses and winter blast.And wrench jockey because i never like using melee weapons.

    I always enjoyed Insect Swarm or Incinerate!

    It was always fun to watch the splicers scramble around, trying to put the fire out or to escape the bugs.

    setting them on fire was usually pretty good, did pretty good damage as well


    freezing i stopped early becaus you frequently would shatter them leaving nothing to loot.

    I'm a fan of Atlas's 1-2-punch, but I love Incinerate, especially Incinerate 3. The first time I used Insect Swarm, I swear it backfired because the bees kept attacking me instead. XD

    I agree that Winter Blast 3 is the most effective plasmid with drill specialist. Bear in mind, however, that it may make the game too easy, especially against the big daddies and big sisters

    In my opinion, Incinerate! is the most useless plasmid. Its features? Small amounts of damage over time, can melt ice. I would choose electro bolt and headshot intsa-kill over small amounts of damage any day, especially on survivor difficulty. The ice problem you say? Chemical Thrower, or explosive barrels.

    I pretty much only use incinerate to melt ice and get stuff. I live by Electro Bolt (currently 2) and Telekinesis with the Nitro splicers, but honestly with upgraded EB I'm pretty sure I could play the entire game with only one plasmid.

    Wrench upgrades are also boss.

    Electro Bolt becomes pretty useless against electrified thuggish splicers in the later stages of the game. (Still useful against BDs, bots, and other types of splicers though.) For that reason I usually switch to Incinerate as my primary plasmid in the later part of the game. (With secondaries like Telekinesis against projectiles, Hypnotize or Target Dummy for support/distraction, and maybe Winter Blast or Electro Bolt as backup.)

    The gene tonic 'natural camouflage' I used a lot. Telekinesis, Incinerate! and Winter blast were probably most frequent, but I did use electro bolt a fair bit and did make use of other plamsids available, too.

    Yeah you got this down to a T. I'm nearing the end of the game and I had to switch to Winter Blast 3 because of all of the electric enemies. Thankfully it's pretty much the same thing.

    Cyclone Trap is probably the most underrated Plasmid of the series. Here's a great combo, Insect Cyclone trap in water with decoy, electrify water as they fall.

    A plasmid is a small DNA molecule that is physically separate from, and can replicate independently of, chromosomal DNA within a cell. Most commonly found as small circular, double-stranded DNA molecules in bacteria, plasmids are sometimes present in archaea and eukaryotic organisms. In nature, plasmids carry genes that may benefit survival of the organism (e.g. antibiotic resistance), and can frequently be transmitted from one bacterium to another (even of another species) via horizontal gene transfer.
