It will fly around, show up in scripted scenes and then you have to hide from it ^_^
Offer it a Cracker and hope it doesn't kill you.
But otherwise I imagine it will be like the main near end boss or something, You won't kill it right away.
hahaha realy funny you are (not)
no serieus, do you think it controls the enviroment in ways that can be good or bad for booker or that it controls elizabeth in some way, maybe the fellow inhabitants of columbia
I'm still trying to figure out whether or not 'Him' is good, bad, or just misunderstood.
People in Columbia are trying to retain Elizabeth, not hurt her. I still think it's odd that the handyman called out her name.
I refer to it as the "Big Crow Daddy"...wonder what the official name will be...judging from what we've seen - he (it) is responsible for chasing/snatching Elizabeth and attacking anyone (Booker a.k.a. us) in his path...he's not going to be easy to kill and I agree that we will probably face him numerous times or see him, get into close encounters with him, etc. He's definitely boss material...in the video, it seemed as if he knocked Booker out (I don't think he would've snatched him) to get to Elizabeth - if it does play out like that, we'll probably recover and go after her...
None of you guys read Game Informer, do you? Their new edition explains exactly what his role is.
He protected Elizabeth the entire time she was inprisoned. He was the only friend she had that 15 years and she doesn't want you to kill him. His only goal is to keep Elizabeth in Columbia, your goal is the opposite.
hm that's interesting. what kind of friendship was it? can he speak? that kinda reminds me of the beauty and the beast. seriously i have the feeling some fairytales had influence on the story and the setting.
i think you will fight "him" like the very first big sister you met in bioshock 2, just more often. hurt him enough and he will flee.
wow realy interesting stuff here, this game seems to have so many layers it's incredible
Hmm, that plot sounds good although it's a bit strange that Elizabeth was shocked at the sight of him on the tower - like she was frightened by him - so, if they were in fact friends (for argument sake) and he protected her, and after what Game Informer said, I'm wondering how that works...
It is still early though and developers have a knack of keeping us guessing about the plot in videos such as that awesome Game play vid! Very in depth story which I LOVE...if it is so, we're going to have a big conflict of interest with Mr. Crow Daddy throughout the game...can't wait

It seems that way (they're not trying to hurt her) but, if he was "assigned" to protect her then, what is he protecting her from?? A group of people within Columbia that's trying to revolt and use her as their means to an end? Or from the "foreigners" like us who want to save her and take her away from Columbia - Booker DeWitt...???

No need to get snooty. I usually read GI but I happen to be outside the country currently
i live in holland but just looked it up on the inetrnet, nice to see that GI has a whole section on bioshock infinite on their site
Its gonna do some harry potter Phoenix style stuff.... like bring you a jewel encrusted rather plastic looking gay sword when you need it most... Sorted!

Huh??? That's whack and, no, I don't think so...lol...
Did anyone read the GI story? They call it "Him" and it was the protector of Elizabeth until you came along. She doesn't hate "Him" because he is the only "friend" she has had in 15 years, so she is torn between wanting to leave and stay with the only thing she has known almost her whole life. Also he really isn't hostile, he is only trying to protect her.

No really the sword looks really plastic and gay....... like sparkly gay!
:O
His role? The most bada** enemy in the history of gaming!
I'm wonderin, is a** some kind of banned word around here?....Yes, I did NOT read the rules xD.
i think so

I'd really like that. The idea of running and hiding from him because he's so freaking crazy and Booker would just get owned sounds awesome. I'm also a sucker for going stealth in games.

Metal Gear, Metal GearAlso love stealth and if that were the case - we could evade him, hide, then, pounce on his weak spot - he surely has one as all big and powerful not to mention scary enemies have...I think that could be his wings - plan of attack would be to attack them first to stagger his movement then use armor piercing rounds to pierce his outer shell - perhaps Incinerate would damage them quite well and supposing he's not resistant to the elements such as Lighting - "Old Faithful" Electro Bolt can stop him for a few seconds OR, we could combo it with Elizabeth (if we do ever face him alongside her) into (my own name
) "Electrical Storm"

Any thoughts on a possible strategy/weakness?

I like the sound of this a lot - torn between two makes for a ground-breakingly emotional and powerful story...I want to head over to GI to read up on it more but, I also don't wanna spoil any surprises!! If all he wants to do is protect her then damn, I already like him and agree with his prerogative - of course this means that we are going to have to make some very difficult decisions friends...PLEASE COME NOW BIOSHOCK INFINITE!!!!!!!!!

Uhhhh, maybe a battle in the air? Booker jumps on Him and you have to shoot him in the wings to cripple him! Sounds a little crazy, but who knows. I assume his weakspot would be his wings though, right at the joints. That'd be sure to mess that metal buzzard up.

I think I'd rather not have any God of War button mashing it might feel a little out of place in Infinite. Well that is just the image I got from jumping on the bird.
he was her only friend? fu** wuz he doin flappin outside all day?

Haha, that's what I was thinking of! In all truth, it wouldn't fit at all in Bioshock, but I can never help but think of that when facing off against a big enemy.
But on the real, I'm thinking some guerrilla warfare tactics would be best against Him. Sneak around and strike at the best opportunity. Don't go full-forward because you'd just get slaughtered. That'd be the best way to handle it.
Agreed I also think that you will use your vigors to help face him much like we see in the gameplay video against out moustachioed foe. I can just see you toppling over a building on top of it or clambering around on sky rails whilst swinging your wrench madly.
Interesting points here about the strategy friends - yes, we can't just charge at him straight away because, that's what he'll be waiting for and will enjoy making a fool out of you thereafter...after u damage him considerably, the opportunity to charge at him for big damage may arise but remember: "The One-Two Punch" to begin with..."Got it? The One-Two-Punch!"![]()
I don't "Murder Crows" will work on him for obvious reasons, LOL...
Yes I doubt murder of crows will work on him and I reckon the final encounter might be in a power station with either electricity where you either shock him or steam him either way melting the outer casing of the bird to reveal what ever shall be in side.
Looks like this is the 'Big Sister' of the game
I didn't remeber this topic, I post something abot this on the gameplay demo topic.
This:
About this, what about Him(Big-birdie-daddy-thingie), what kind of "what" is that?, they never used dragons or stuff like that in the previous games, the thing[Him] has human-like hands, but its so damn huge to be a human("stands 30 feet tall").
Also they called him a "living thing". So it's not a robot. What is this, you could guess that thing is so damn spliced, but there aren't things like that in Columbia, what is that thing!!!??
It's definitely a person within it. Probably very messed up in the head and deformed, like a Big Daddy.
handyman said:Looks like this is the 'Big Sister' of the game
yeah I think your right. There was going to be only one big sister that you would fight multiply times.
Just want to apologize ahead of time if I repeat anything. "Him" is an important part of the story because he is Elizabeth's jailer, protector, and only friend. He will be chasing her and Booker down, and trying to bring her back. Elizabeth will be torn between freedom and her new relationship with Booker, and her ties to her only friend, Him. I would hope gameplay wise that he shows up to cause havoc every once in a while, and that the fight(s) aren't too scripted. I also hope he's not the final boss, he looks like a final boss size wise, but his character doesn't seem like the big evil in the world of Columbia.

I don't know why you're so sure it's a person. Big Daddies were big, but nowhere near as big as Him, and I'm not so sure he's a person. More like a sentient machine. Or maybe he's being controlled from somewhere else.

The Handymen are larger than Big Daddies too and there's still a person in there.
I don't know if I used the spoiler block bar thing correctly. Can someone give me a tutorial on how to do it?
I definitely think that someone is controlling the beast 'the mystery man' and he will somehow be a big secret reveal in the story there is bound to be at least one its Irrational.
alls i know for the time being is that he's the warden of fair columbia and when you do fight it will be on a grand stage hopefully a stage falling out of the sky, and as for a friend maybe a overly jealous one cause elizabeth didnt look happy to see him in the game play, what would be cool is if your arena with big bird changes, like the final battle everything is toppling over and finally plummeting back to earth your fighting him and hitting him with everything you got when suddenly the ground underneath you is about to crumble so you hop on the sky rail dodging or firing plasmids at him then get off at a safer building and fight again there
