Thread: EGM[i] Bioshock Infinite cover story

  1. Here’s an interesting read on Bioshock Infinite. Even though by now that games info’s has been told in find detail by other media outlets. I still think it’s worth checking it out.

"Inside this week's issue you'll find our special interactive coverage of Ken

Levine's upcoming BioShock Infinite, including interactive screenshots and

new info brought to you as only EGMi"

One interesting thing from this piece is that it looks like the game wont be open world. And that’s something I didn’t know, but kinda figured out myself. The image analysis they do also show some interesting details…so check out if you want.

I would have to read it. I'm busy right now though.

It also says your player will have a hook to get around Columbia!! Mulitplayer is mentioned that it will only be done if they can do something which has never been done before.

I read it and it's pretty good. I think they could do something that never been done before.

Would this be the thing we seen in the trailer.

What you can't see in this shot is the angy, monstrously-winged robot that will try to get you, as well. Big daddy has nothing on this guy.

I believe so unless they talking about the giant bird like thing that took Elizabeth away at the end of the gameplay demonstration they talked about.

    No open world?!

I hope, at least, that you can backtrack, to view the atmosphere as a whole once you finish the narrative.

Both Bioshock 1 and 2 have been nearly complete linear stories anyway. Bioshock 1 is deceiving in that it lets you traverse places again, but nothing about them is close to 'open world'. The narrative is driven pretty straight forward in both, allowing for slight deviation for the player but little much else.

I wouldn't want Bioshock to be open world unless you can have a custom character or something

Oh I know, I gotcha, but there is a difference between linear stories like the Gears of War series, and Bioshock 1. Using the bathyspheres to backtrack areas and explore was a highlight of mine.

I feel the same. I felt claustrophobic knowing I couldn't backtrack in BioShock 2. I had a thing in the first BioShock where I would backtrack and go Big Daddy hunting with my crossbow in various levels. My favorite area to do this in was Medical Pavilion, haha. I loved all the obstacles and avoiding the rush of the Big Daddy zooming towards me and getting cut off by a railing or wall, haha.

Backtracking adds replay value, and I'm hoping Infinite allows this to happen.
